Lovely story to go to sleep on
- By Rita Colenan phil lewington on 12-02-22
Summary
Never give up on your dream - or on love.
Unlike other women her age, Anna MacDonald has never set much hope on finding herself a husband.
Far more important is the task of finding a position of employment...in a society that is untrusting of female doctors, that has proven challenging so far, to say the least.
So, Anna resigns herself to replying to a collection of advertisements from men seeking mail-order brides. Who knows? Maybe one of them might even live in a town that would welcome her as a doctor.
But what man would ever want a wife who places her career above family?
Alec Jenks knows all too well the challenges that come with choosing a career of your own design.
He was supposed to be a doctor like his father, but instead he chose the life of a blacksmith - much to the dismay of his mother.
Now that his career is established in Iron Creek, Alec has come to think that it might be time for him to start a family of his own - but there is just one problem.
With his overprotective mother still living with him, things might get a little complicated if he were to bring home a new wife.
Alec knows that he needs to find the right woman - someone who will love him regardless of his meddlesome relatives. And when he receives Anna’s reply to his advertisement for a bride, he thinks maybe she could be just the one for him....
If only she can survive his mother.
The Blacksmith’s Mail-Order Doctor is a charming story of the challenges that come with life and love. With time, distance, and Alec’s meddling mother standing in their way…will Anna and Alec find a way to be together? Or is this just the beginning of the end?
To fall in love with their story, scroll up and click “buy” right now. Whatever dream you might have, make love a part of it.

Momma's boy romance
Anna has fought her way up in life to become a doctor during a time when women are shunned from education. She is fiercely independent and puts her career first. But now that she considers the fact that she would like a husband, what man could be modern enough to accept a working wife? However when blacksmith Alec puts an ad in the newspaper for an independent wife, she takes a chance and replies to the ad. They seem like a good match for each other but one person stands in their way.
Good story, but I really disliked Alec's lack of backbone to stand up to his mother. The story seemed to be dragged out longer than it should be because of this, and I found it a bit frustrating that Anna didn't take more decisive action on her behalf.

Very good historical romance
Karla Gracey has become one of my favorite authors of historical romances. Her characters are likeable but realistic. The reader cares about what happens to Anna and Alex. Anna is a newly graduated medical Doctor from Boston while Alex is a blacksmith in Iton Crerk Minnesota. I was drawn into their story. If you like sweet historical romances then I highly recommend Gracey’s Iron Creek Brides series.

The Blacksmith's Mail Order Doctor
This is a great book. I liked Anna. She is a determined woman willing to work hard for what she wants. I didn't think Alec deserved her. He should of gave her more attention and respect. He didn't deserve her in my opinion. I also didn't like his mother she was selfish thinking of herself only and Alec doesn't have a backbone. I understand he wants his mother happy but he could have done things different. But this is an excellent book and it holds your attention. Gina Dobbs is an excellent narrator. She does an excellent job on this book. I received a copy of this book from audiobooks unleashed but that has no influence on my review.
