the meat of it is very intresting and very well done but it jumps arround on timelines so much that it really should be in severel parts looking at different fields of operations instead its failry choppy still worth reading though

Pieced together from the computer files captured during the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden, this fascinating history of Al-Qaeda holds many surprises. How the invasion of Afghanistan following 9/11 and US drone strikes all but destroyed Al-Qaeda as a fighting force. How infighting between Jihadist groups fractured the Islamist cause and how, had he lived, Bin Laden planned a massive global attack on the Worlds oil tankers to regain the initiative on Jihad and starve the West of oil. Truly a monster, yet on a personal level, he seems to have believed in kindness and compassion to those around him.

Though I found the many names confusing (some characters are referred to by several different names), it’s well read, with some of the original Arabic words appended with authentic pronunciation. If you are interested in modern history, this book provides many great insights into the mind of the man who planned 9/11.
