Summary

A dog who gets hold of the wrong end of the stick; a horse who beats the odds; a wasp who discovers a sting in the tail. This is the stuff of The Animal Parables. Each tale features an animal who finds that things turn out to be quite different from how it imagined and profound life lessons are learned along the way. These seven, life affirming, tales will delight young minds and leave adults moved to reflection.

In this collection Martin Day has re-discovered the power of the parable to layer deeper meanings under the skin of a simple narrative. In doing so he has created a collection of stories that sound at multiple levels. It’s like the delight of finding that second tray under the first in a box of chocolates!

Charming

A series of delightful stories. I listened to them one after the other but I could see them being used as a weekly treaching/ discussion session for young people. Although Martin has a great relaxed style of story telling, I feel they would work much better for children with the illustrations or even as an animated series.

A fascinating and absorbing collection of stories.

Martin narrates his work beautifully. Each story drew me in This is a book that shouldn't be rushed - and I've enjoyed listening over three days.

Each one of the parables is skillfully crafted, the underlying spiritual/ philosophical meaning of each gently rises to the surface without hitting you over the head.

Opening with the MInor bird's need to look different, to be somehow more acceptable, it moves on to the crab and its desperate need to leave behind his outer tough, craggy old shell and embrace this new self - There is a mackerel and the fisherman, a tormented caterpillar.,.10 excellently written stories that will entertain and definitely get you thinking.

This is not a young children's book - perfect for YA and up...
