When Alice’s Uncle Sam brings home a mysterious calendar that’s short on chocolate but big on surprises, she is thrown into an advent she never dreamed of. Codes arrive by text message and open the doors in the calendar, drawing Alice and Sam into fantastical new worlds that are wondrous, frightening and beautiful - and strangely familiar.

Packed with codes and secrets, and inviting us to explore the deeper meanings of Christmas, this enthralling and touching tale can be read on many levels, and will be loved by adults and children alike.

Absolutely refreshing!

Where does The Advent Calendar rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would rank this book as the most inspiring book I have listened to. Many others have been thought provoking or funny or challenging but this one combined all of these elements effortlessly into one story that was so easy to listen to.

What did you like best about this story?

As a Christian I listened to this 'knowing' the story and most of the codes, however the author presented them in such a fresh way as to enable me to look again at the meaning of advent through new eyes. What I really appreciated was that the story did not confine itself to the birth of Christ but looked at the effect His birth has had and is continuing to have upon our world.

What about Matt Lloyd Davies’s performance did you like?

The narration was excellent and brought the story to life, it was gentle and sympathetic to the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I found myself moved throughout the story and the long pauses between chapters was welcome as I had time to pause the story before rushing into the next chapter.

Any additional comments?

This is a must listen to, in my opinion and one I shall be returning to every year. I shall be purchasing several copies of the book to give away as I feel the profound truths were shared in such an easygoing and gentle way that others would enjoy the story without feeling they were being preached at and may come to ask questions that it raised for them.

Lovely Advent story

I’ve read this book a couple of times and was pleased to see it on Audible. A story of hope which digs down beneath all the superficiality often associated with Christmas and gets to the real meaning. Excellent narration which suited the story.

The Greatest Story ever Told; a version of.

This is for people curious about the one true faith. Mainly for teenagers otherwise.

The narrator is the best I have yet heard.

Oh wow!

I loved this book! I know it's June, warm, and 6 months to Christmas but I'm sooo pleased I decided to listen to it now.
Narrator has the perfect voice to narrate this beautiful and gentle book.
The concept behind the doors opening with a code is delightful. Just all round great book. I'll definitely either listen or read it at Christmas time again.
