Summary
How does a man addicted to routine - a man who flosses his teeth before love-making - cope with the chaos of everyday life? With the loss of his son, the departure of his wife and the arrival of Muriel, a dog trainer from the Meow-Bow dog clinic, Macon's attempts at ordinary life are tragically and comically undone.
A heartfelt novel from the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Amateur Marriage and Breathing Lessons, now available as an audiobook.

Muriels voice sounds like Marge Simpson
I loved hearing this, already a favourite book as I am a fan of Anne Tyler. The narration was good but the only thing I didn’t like was that the voice he used for muriel sounded like marge Simpson. Much as I like marge, it made her into a caricature. Great story though.

Perfectly Observed
The wonderful thing about this book is how the characters develop. They start off shadowy & grey & end up rich & full of colour.
I absolutely loved this perfectly observed story of a couple surviving a trauma.
