Summary

A Necromunda novel.

When full-scale gang war erupts between Houses Goliath and Escher, Brielle of the Wild Hydras finds herself on the run and desperate for revenge....

Listen to it because....

Delve into the darkest reaches of the underhive in a tale of vengeance, ambition and gruesome deeds from Necromunda's underhive.

The story....

In the polluted, sprawling hive cities of Necromunda, life is short. From the decadent heights of the Spire to the murderous deeps of the underhive, those on the climb must be bold and brutal, or face a violent end.

When the barbarous Fettnir, Goliath overlord of the Chemfall Butchers, turns his attention to Escher territory, the result is nothing short of a massacre.

Brielle of the Wild Hydras escapes the slaughter and is cast into the deepest levels of the underhive.

Determined to avenge her family, Brielle vows that she will end those responsible, but to reach Fettnir and the bounty hunter who murdered her mother, she must first survive...and the darkness is full of horrors.

Written by Justin D Hill. Running time 9 hours and 5 minutes. Narrated by Emma Noakes.

Solid

I didnt pay much attention to the beginning of the story but as soon as our main character fled down hive and her rise back to the “top” was well worth the wait. It didn’t take long to get interesting but if you’re like me just keep going it’s well worth it and a solid story.

damn this gets dark in place, loved it all the way through, voice acting is superb, story drags you in and paints a vivid setting.

Amazing if you love Escher

I loved this book. The underhive was amazingly well represented and the voice acting was perfect. It was a little all over the place in truth. But I love Escher so if was great.

Necromunda

One of the better books in the WH40k Universe. Well performed. A great break from all the bombastic Space Marine Novels.

Somehow hollow

Had many great ingredients but it ended up a little stale.
The main character is not that good and pretty much gets blown around the place.
Do not really recommend but not the worst.

Nothing very memorable but a decent way to pass the time

The female narrator does a decent job but it somehow is not as engaging as with a male narrator.

Underappreciated, immersive & great!

I really enjoyed this book from the Necromunda setting of Warhammer 40K by Justin D Hill! It's the first and only Necromunda book I've read so far and I thoroughly enjoyed it, I think this book highlights the potential for great books in the Necromunda setting. The smaller scale and at least for me inherently very interesting world of Necromunda is a great setting for storytelling and Justin D Hill really shows that off in this book, he really brings the world alive and immerses you in the setting showing different aspects of it without hindering the story. I would to listen to more Necromunda books on Audible, but at least currently this is the only one available. I'm not sure how good the others are, but I think there's great potential here. It seems like this setting is underappreciated and doesn't sell as well, which is a great shame, since that means we are unlikely to get many more books set in it. Hopefully we'll get some anyway, I would really encourage anyone even slightly interested in Necromunda to listen to this or even if you are just interested in 40K, I would still recommend this as it's a great book on it's own.
The narration by Emma Noakes is really good as well, maybe not as good as the book itself, but still very good. Some of the other characters, especially male, sound a bit silly and some emotional parts sound a bit "over acted", but other than that the narration was good.
I highly recommend this book!

Die you scummers

As a fan of Justin I started this audio with high hopes, which weren’t dashed. The story is a wonderful mix of events as they happen and wistful repost. The narrator gives the right tones to the story as it really wouldn’t work being narrated by a male. A truly wonderful story that paints a vivid and sometimes disturbing image of the underhive...... Large spiders anybody?!?!? Kudos to you sir!
