Class

Class from England’s most underrated bowler, if he was another nationality every time he was mentioned ‘the great’ would precede his name. Thanks for everything Broady you’re class.

Audio

Well written and read.
The Ashes 2023 was the most memorable listen on TMS, you Stuart are very privileged to have been a part of it, I didn’t want it to end!! You have been an outstanding bowler Stuart though you do come across very arrogant.

I normally don't like non author narrators...

When it comes to autobiographies and memoirs, I tend to avoid those narrated by someone other than the subject. However, I'd been so keen to listen to this that I decided to suck it up just this once. Stuart reads the prologue and first chapter before handing over to Chris Harper. Within a few minutes of Chris's narration, I genuinely forgot it wasn't Stuart reading. He doesn't attempt to mimick Stuart, but his enunciation and pitch fit perfectly. It's just as enjoyable as if Stuart had been reading. As for the content itself, this gives a great insight into not only Broady's career but also delves into some of the decision making begin the scenes, on the pitch events remembered as fans from his perspective and a great trip down memory lane for all England cricket fans.

Broady's humour and his insight on different England Personalities

Writing a book about your career wrapped around the 2023 Ashes series really kept this book interesting. Stuart Broad comes across as funny, intelligent and passionate and a really great bloke. A really enjoyable read

Lionheart

A fascinating and entertaining insight into the past and present philosophy and attitude of English cricket.
I’ve always admired Stuart’s attitude and determination irrespective of having to get his boots back on because of the top order batmen letting him and his fellow bowlers down. To retire at the very top of your game was a tough decision but a typically brave one from one of our greatest cricketers.

Stuart Broad's honesty and directness.

A superb autobiography of one of England's greats, which is a fine example to all young players of how to play the game. His Mum got it right when she told him that above all, he had to enjoy his journey, win or lose. An excellent read.

Modest Document of Astounding Career Averages

At the end of The Ashes series many cricket fans like myself were thinking "If Jimmy Anderson is still playing, surely Stuart Broad has plenty left in the tank?".

This account details why Broady decided understandably to go early, to quit while he was ahead; a big decision vindicated on the day by his wicket with final ball and a six with the bat.

Much of the book is anchored in that final series, even the more personal accounts of formative years including his Dad's hero status with the bat (especially after 86/87 Ashes). It also draws on poignant snippets of family life as a father of a young daughter as taking the place of cricket as a priority.

However, the change in narrator jarred a little; Stuart himself did a fine job in the first and last chapters so, like his career coming to an end, as a fan, I wanted that little bit more.
