Summary
This story picks up right where State of the Union left off with another wild ride for the First Couple as they navigate work, family, and an all new and extra baffling murder mystery that has Sam pushing the boundaries to get answers before a killer can strike again. Meanwhile, Nick contends with the aftermath of his landmark State of the Union address as a person from his past threatens to undo all the progress he’s made since assuming the presidency.

Warning its brilliant but a tearjerker.
This title is so fitting as shock after shock happened throughout this story. This story had me in floods of tears most of the way through. Marie writes so well it is easy to imerse yourself in the story and imagine the feelings of the characters as they deal with the events of their life. The narrator has a lovely voice and helps to bring the characters to life so the story is more real. I highly recommend reading this emotional next instalment of Nick, Sam and Co's story.

Amazing book
Wow what can I say other than…I’m in a state of shock …quite literally. This was a very powerful and emotional story in this wonderful series. I love these characters and get so invested in their lives they feel kinda real. I cried throughout this book On and off. I know I’ll have a book hangover for days after this one. I can’t wait to see what happens next for our fabulous First Family. Wonderful narration too as always.

Exciting as always
Another wonderful catch up with the lives of Sam and Nick. This time it’s the death of one of Sam’s family that opens a huge can of worms in the department. I love how Marie has one story with multiple different threads woven throughout it. I love it. Eva Kaminsky’s narration is wonderful and brings it all to life.

Great story
Marie Force does it again. Another great instalment in the first family series, following Lieutenant Sam Holland and her husband President Nick Cappuano. Thoroughly recommend. If you haven't read her Fatal series and the previous First Family books, I recommend that you do as there are overlaps. You won't be sorry you're reading them , totally addictive. Eva Kaminsky does an awesome job of narrating, making this a very enjoyable listen.

4th in the series of Sam Holland, in the White House
This the 4th in the series, it was very suspenseful and well written. The language was a little worse and plot very plausible with what they are cutting drugs with today on the streets. We had something similar in the Akron/Cleveland area with tainted drugs and too many deaths. So many start hooked on pain meds and then turn to heroin, etc. My daughter included, so this book hit really close to home, Narcan and all, but luckily she made it all the way back after rehabbing. It isn’t an easy road back and it is one step forward and two steps back for a long time! Many tears and many prayers for anyone that has a loved suffering from drug addiction.

Marie has done it again
I always wait with anticipation for Marie’s books and this one was no different, especially after the cliffhanger of her last book. I have loved Nick and Sam since the first story and always look forward to who they will take under their wing next. The cast of characters are well formed and interesting with Eva Kaminsky bringing them all to vivid life.

Love that she brings real life problems into the story
This one is very sad but hopefully the info she gives and the characters going thru real life issues will help so many. This is a very real problem that could be helped but currently isn’t. There was very little mentioned about Eli & Candace which seemed out of character but maybe there’s a reason behind it. Love that she can write such sexy scenes as well as dramatic storylines. Great narration by Eva Kaminsky. Can’t wait for the next one.

Excellent, but hard to read due to subject matter
I loved the book. I love Sam and Nick of course, but it was the subject matter that got me this time. My daughter was addicted to drugs from her teens. It went on with various rehab stints that didn't do much good until her early 30's. Then for a year and a half she was great. Then we were hit with Covid. I wonder if there are any studies on relapses during that time. She was in rehab a couple of times and then her fiancee died. When she lost her, that was the beginning of the end. a few months later, as we were getting ready to go on a camping trip, I got a call I almost didn't answer. It was from a local hospital. I figured it was her asking if I would come pick her up and could she stay with us, again. I picked up and it was from a dr. It was the call that we expected, but dreaded. Amy was there and not expected to make it. She ended up on life support and she had signed for organ donation. She was declared dead 2 days later and our life changed forever. This story hit home because she had coccaine mixed with fentynol in her system. She was 35 and didn't get to see her oldest child graduate high school or start college. Both her daughter and son are still dealing with it. So thank you Marie for writing this very important book.
