About this listen
Soul Songs - Bad Boy Series: Audiobook 2
Jake Stryker is the bad boy of country music. Tall, dark, and ruggedly handsome, he has the reputation of a party animal and enjoys all the perks of celebrity. His idyllic lifestyle was rocked by the news of his sister's death at the hands of her husband, Bobby. Jake took responsibility of his sister's twins, whilst Bobby was sent to jail.
Marty Donahue makes her living painting murals for people. She lives and travels in a 30-year-old RV accompanied by her one-eyed old cat Gruff. She loves her carefree life, traveling around the country, creating unique murals for all types of people.
When Marty was told her next job was for Jake Stryker, her initial response was "no." She wasn't crazy about men, and she especially disliked musicians, due to her father's mistreatment of her mother. If it hadn't been for the sad tale of the 4-year-old twins, she would have never taken it on.
Marty committed to doing not one, but two murals at the home of Jake Stryker. She wanted to help the kids, but she wasn't prepared to become another notch on the bedpost for the sexy superstar.
The next few weeks were filled with painting, kids, and Jake. She doesn't want to get close to him, she knows he's bad news, but she can't keep fighting the chemistry that's brewing between them.
Then they get the sickening news: Bobby has escaped from the jail where he was being held for trial. Word is that he's headed to Tennessee to get his kids back.
Will Marty and Jake be able to work together to save the kids from their maniacal father? And will they be able to save themselves from their attraction to each other?
Soul Songs is Audiobook 2 in the steamy Bad Boy Romance Series.

Loved It
Written for my blog
I liked Marty almost instantly, she was a really likable character who had a bad background but didn't let that affect her.
Jake was lovely too and has made it into my Book Boyfriends shelf. The guy doesn't seem to have any flaws! I wouldn't really put him as a bad boy but I guess the country singer makes up for it.
The backstory for the children is heartbreaking. Their reactions to certain things are so well written. We don't actually read what they went through but certain things they do and say give us a small idea.
The narrator was really good, she did some great voices for each person, especially the children, and really understands the story, bringing the listener more into it.
This is an instalove story, which is fine, but not my favourite. It wasn't so bad though as that wasn't all the story was about and the characters didn't act on it ludicrously quickly. There were points though such as at the beginning, where Jake said something like 'I almost lost you then'...he'd known her five minutes. I think if I guy said that to me when I barely knew him I'd be running for the hills. It was cute and romantic and fit the story perfectly though!
About an hour into the story you can hear sirens in the background from the narrators recording place, it happens a little later in the story too. It's not awfully off putting but it is noticeable.

Nice Uncle/sorta Nanny story
Rockstar turned insta Super Uncle with surprise custody of this twin niece and nephew hires a painter to paint murals in the kiddos rooms and insta chemistry with the new family that is only missing that certain female presence to complete the little family.
I liked it. Written well and good for a day drive.

Review
I really enjoyed this story it had a really catchy beginning and once I sat down to listen to that, it had me hooked. It remained upbeat and interesting all the way through. I loved the presenter, she really matched the style of the story perfectly. The story is very well rounded, it is not just a romance. It is the touching story of a brothers love for his sister's children. Also a lesson in understanding and dealing with children who have suffered terrible trauma. I think it is all sensitively and beautifully handled in a way that enhances the story without detracting from the main focus of a budding new romance.

Soothing bad boys
This was a easy and fun listen. Lissa does a good job of bringing the characters to life. I didn't feel like I had lost anything coming in on book two of this series. For this reason, I would say it is a stand-alone book and recommend it!
