This was an easy listen. Rosalyn Landor is an ideal narrator.
This is an easy listen of an identity conflict story. Viola doesn’t really know who she is or what identity she should/could embrace and has just about had enough!

Her seemingly idealistic desire to just give herself some space, backfires on her, living her stranded in an Inn. Then fortuitously (maybe), she encounters a blast from her past. They jointly decide to run away from their responsibilities, taking a break from reality for a short while.

What could possibly go wrong? After all, they’re not hurting anyone!

There is no one better than Rosalyn Landor to read these marvellous stories of the Westcots . So enjoyable.

Simply Lovely

I was exasperated with the main characters of this book.
A 40 year old man who spent 17 years partying and womanising, ignoring his own children because he blamed himself for their mother’s death.
A 42 year old woman who recklessly embarked on a solo trip with no protection in an unsafe carriage.
Families on both sides who standby waiting for these two to grow up.
Ironically the children do a better job of being adults in this tale.
Not the best Wescott instalment in my opinion

With the exception of a few mawkish moments, a good story with likeable characters. Rosalind Landor's voices are excellent but she does overdo the treacle in places.

Feelings

The Hero pushed his wife away from him and she accidentally fell out of a window. So he turned his back against his twin children and fell into debauchery. His irritating younger brother and pious sister-in-law play a apart in this on going monologue. The Heroine steps out of her role as a virtuous woman and suffers mental anguish. The Committee gets involved, so lots more opinions and over acting. The only thing that might have uplifted the story is if there had been a pregnancy. Not worth listening to, alot of fastwarding. The end was predictable and boring, a pity about the rubbish in between.

Seriously tedious.
