About this listen
Stetson Major and Curtis Traynor are about as opposite as two cowboys can get. Stetson is a rancher, tied to the land he loves in Taos, New Mexico, while Curtis is a rodeo cowboy whose wanderlust never could be tamed. But now Stetson's momma is dying of Alzheimer's, and she can't remember that Curtis hasn't been Stetson's boyfriend for a long time. Curtis's absence makes her cry, so Stetson swallows his pride and calls his ex-lover.
To Curtis, Stetson is the one who got away, the love of his life. And Momma is his friend, so he's happy to help out. Yet returning to the ranch stirs up all sorts of feelings that, while buried, never really went away. Still, the rodeo nationals are coming up, and Curtis can't stay - even if he's starting to want to, especially to support Stetson when he needs it most.
Stetson and Curtis want to find a place where they both fit, to be there to catch each other when they fall. But family, money problems, and the call of the rodeo circuit might end their second-chance romance before it even gets started.

Good book
I really enjoyed the book. Although the book begins after the break up, this doesn't take away from the book itself. You learn about what the relationship had been like as the book progresses. The book wasn't shocking with loads of angst and twists and turns. It felt like a real relationship with genuine feelings. Every character played a role in weaving a realistic tale of different kids of love and losses and rediscovering oneself. Narration was good too. The slow Texan/southern drawl was done well. I felt the narrator did a good job not just with the accents but with the deep down exhaustion that Setson felt when dealing with life. It is a slow burn but that fits with the awkwardness of reconnecting with an ex while thinking that it will never go anywhere. I can see myself listening to it again.

Such a cute sad sad story
Stetson and Curtis are just the cutest pair of cowboys. The story is well crafted, but sad as hell. Life is hard for Stetson till Curtis shows back up and helps him get his life back into order.
Slow moving, but very enjoyable true interaction of relationships rebuilding, also allowing the reader to empathize with the situaiton and feel the day to day of life on a ranch. Alot of books purport to be about "cowboys", but these two really walk the walk and talk the talk. No over graphic sexual scenes, but alot of snuggling to keep out the cold.

Sad and heartfelt love story… slow burn but worth it!
Realistic portrayal of losing a parent to dementia and return of long lost love… set in a cowboy rancher/rodeo backdrop. Not too sweet but ultimately heartfelt romance. The narration was excellent and noticeably better than other audiobooks!

I liked how both men expressed their love
It was an average story with an average performer. I like some doubt and uncertainty in a relationship and a falling out somewhere causing unresolved sexual tension. This novel skipped that, because it starts after the falling out and starts of when they meet again. The minimum amount of drama was from outside the relationship.

This is a very enjoyable story. Equal parts heart warming and heart breaking. The narrator was excellent. Well worth a listen.
