Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Top 10 best-selling author Jane Fallon looks at discovering secrets and the price of keeping them in her stunning new novel, Skeletons.

All Jen had ever wanted was a big, happy family. And when she married Jason and became part of the Masterson clan that's exactly what she got. For years everything was perfect.

But then Jen sees something that she was never meant to see; unearths a secret she was never supposed to discover.

If she tells, then her idyllic life might be over. But can she really keep it to herself?

Jane Fallon is the multi-award-winning television producer behind shows such as This Life, Teachers and 20 Things to Do Before You're 30. Her previous books include Getting Rid of Matthew, Got You Back, Foursome and The Ugly Sister. Skeletons is her fifth novel.

What about Cass!?

I didn’t like the ending we never got to hear about what happened to Cass and it seems sad that she didn’t get any closure and was just forgotten by everyone 😔 narrator was really good though.

Not as good as other Jane Fallon books

I did really like this book but it isn't as good as other Jane Fallon books!! I would still recommend if you want a light listen

Another great listen penned by Jane Fallon

One of her earlier books, the story unfolded slowly but it was the build up of the characters, the great dialogue and description that made this a compelling listen. I sort of knew where some of the plot was heading but that didn’t matter. It was a breath of fresh air to listen to a “real” scenario rather than one of far fetched plot twists and violence. The characters in this book stayed with me. The narrator did a good job even though some of her characterisations were a bit exaggerated.
I highly recommend this one. Jane Fallon delivers yet again.

Avid reader Jean

I love Jane Fallon's books They are toned to be relaxing and cosy and this one is intriguing as usual. Marvelous narration too

Compulsive Reading.

Like a lot of Jane Fallon's books, Skeletons is a page-turner. There are plenty of twists and - although some are a little predictable - they are definitely entertaining. The narration is fantastic, which elevates the story.

The biggest issue I had with this book was how deeply unlikeable I found the protagonist. Jen is self-obsessed, lacks any empathy for others, is hypocritical and makes jaw-droppingly poor (and implausible) decisions. She spends a great deal of the book whinging about her lovely husband - and treats him badly for the whole of the book. Paragraphs are devoted to her complaints about their marriage - the central "problem" with which is stated to be that they "don't argue enough." Talk about first-world problems! I found the so-called antagonist, Cass, much more appealing.

Towards the end of the book (the last couple of hours), it's as if Fallon realised how much Jen was in the wrong and suddenly went all-out to make her husband a less sympathetic character. Although this was a bit of a clunky gearchange, it did make the rest of the story more enjoyable. Being able to root for Jen, at last, made things more satisfying.

Overall, I would recommend this book as a light entertaining read, perfect for those who don't want a serious book right now.

Another good book!

Enjoyed the story - thank goodness Jen came to her senses in the end. Was willing her to tell them where to go! Love Jane Fallon books so far - on to the next. Narrator was okay - found she had a set pattern to how she read it which was a bit monotonous/"samey". Preferred Jo Joyner who sounded a bit more lifelike/chatty and varied in tone.
