About this listen
In her darklight the world will burn.
Eskara Helsene is missing. She left her queendom, her friends, her children, even her own name behind. No one has seen the Corpse Queen for a decade.
Someone is murdering Sourcerers, forcing them to reject their magic and opening scars in reality, and monsters from the Other World are pouring through.
When an old acquaintance turns up out of the blue, Eska has no choice but to investigate the murders and the holes in reality. Can she stop the murderer before the entire world is consumed? And will the conflict reveal her true nature?
Sins of the Mother is the fourth book in the bestselling The War Eternal Series.

Such a great installment
Ok, so I hate that Eska is old and in pain, I want some kind of reverse chronomancy to give her back her years. But she's still full of bad-assery, and I really liked how this story circled back to her past mistakes and gave her a chance to try to make things right.
And guess who's baaaaack???! Yay!!

Another Gem in a Great Series
After 3 jam-packed instalments, most series run the risk of stagnating slightly, but not this one.
Sins of the Mother felt fresh. Following a much older Eskara, we’re taken on a new adventure that explores life after the climactic events of the initial trilogy.
Rather than being overshadowed by the events so far, somehow the stakes seem bigger and more personal than ever, and the returning cast feel much changed by the events so far, yet still familiar and true to their character.
I thought this instalment was great and the author has done a great job of making us invest in the characters. Can’t wait to get stuck into the next one!

Keeps getting better!
I dont know how Rob J. Hayes manages to do it, but these books just keep getting better and better.
I'm almost scared to start the next book because I don't want this story to end.
Moira Quirk yet again smashed it with the narration. She is so great at creating unique and memorable voices for each character.

I didnt think it could get any better
I loved it. It was a great story from the beginning. Not something you can read or listen without having read the first three. But if you have and enjoyed them, you will not be disappointed in the fourth instalment. I just can't wait to start the fifth and final once it is out on audible. I just hope Moira is back to finish the story off.

Excellent series.
Another excellent dark adventure in The War Eternal series, Sins of the Mother is the fourth book in this brilliant qintologly, Eskara is back with a bang, she is older, wiser, but a storm still rages inside her. This series is simply amazing, excellent storytelling by Mr Hayes, a very interesting magic system, and the worldbuilding is sublime. His character development just gets better and better with deep emotional flaws, weaknesses, and strengths that get you so attached to these relatable characters. This book, like the rest of the series, is brutal, powerful, and very honest. Rob J. Hayes' prose is wonderful as ever, that keeps you milling through the pages from start to finish. One more to go, and I will be sad to leave this world behind. Being a parent was not always Eskara strong point. After dealing with her enemies, she fell pregnant and ruled her queendom with an iron fist. But as the years pass by, Eskara has had enough and disappears. When an old friend finds her to let her know her daughter is missing and that sorcerers are being killed, Eskara must face old ghosts again and maybe a monster she has created. For all lovers of dark fantasy, I very highly recommended...😁🖤🔥⚡️
