Has the charity made off with her boss's generous donation? And, who on earth is that gorgeous soft-butch veterinarian who looks as if she could toss a Shetland pony over one shoulder? Caitlyn Lloyd has the world at her feet. Or more accurately - under her horse’s hooves. With the 2016 Rio Olympics just around the corner, nothing is going to derail her long-held dream of winning a medal or two in Olympic dressage. Not even the reappearance of a childhood so-not-a-friend throwing her perfectly balanced life into disarray. Addie Gardner’s career is at its peak, and accepting a last-minute fill-in position as the veterinarian for the US Olympic Dressage Team was a no-brainer. The fact that her old crush from Pony Club is on the team is just a bonus.

Free-spirited and easygoing Taylor Vandenberg left her hometown of Faircombe, Tennessee, as soon as she could, and in the twenty-five years since, she has rarely looked back. She wouldn't change anything about how her life has turned out—having traveled to nearly every country, never staying anywhere long enough to feel stifled. Brooke Watson has known Taylor for her entire life, and lifelong knowledge means that Brooke knows she's trouble: irresponsible, takes nothing seriously, and irritatingly attractive.

Lee Winter shakes up the hero romance novel
Leave it to Lee Winter to take the trope and turn it in its ear. Who is the hero, who saves whom? Who ends up with the girl?
This book is great. A very different take on the first contact scenario. Lee Winter dives deep into societal mores. She points out how much we all suffer when hate and prejudice rule.
Abby Craden does a wonderful job of narrating this novel , including alien curse words.
Enjoyable and thought provoking.

Sharing your truth can heal shattered hearts.
I loved this story and Abby Craven is always giving voice to words so you feel them. This is the one book of Lee Winter that I thought I might not enjoy. So wrong! A group of aliens land on earth pre WW1 and to survive they become guardians for the humans. Their lives are controlled and dominated for the next 100+ years. Nyah (Shattergirl) and Lena (A tracker) are strong woman on a collision course that will change both their shattered lives. The dialogue is full of truth sharing, trust issues and a connection so beautiful as it unfolds. I kick myself for waiting so long to read this. I cried, snickered and just felt my heart in my throat. I love this alien fiction story that hit too close to a world we might live in. It dud give a very beautiful unexpected HEA but still had the hot of sensual pleasure. So very good.

Shattered not your usual love story
I have read/listened to all of Lee Winters books and have never ever been disappointed. This is the first Sci-fi I have read in a very long time. The parallels to real life are staggering and even though this was written in 2017 it shows elements of presentience of what is happening in the USA today. Instead of the leader of the guardians being a used car salesman substitute a Reality show host as president.
I thoroughly recommend this book to any who have not read anything by this talented author you are in for a wild and exciting ride. Enjoy I did.

Super hero characters, as imperfect characters, living in a dystopian world on earth after losing their own planet.

Blown Away
I went into this book not knowing much about it, but knowing Lee Winter's work. This story blew me away. It was raw and poignant and sad and hopeful and I found myself crying through a lot of it. Winter touches on so many themes in this book and does each perfectly. I'm not a superhero fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't wait to read the rest in this series!
