Summary

Daisy’s hero is Florence Nightingale, and she hopes to one day become a nurse just like her.

But as a girl growing up in the East End of London in 1912, it seems like all her future holds is dropping out of school to work a tough job in a factory for very little money.

Captivating and charming

Delightful characters, clear plot, good historical accuracy. All children should read this to help them appreciate their lives and opportunities.

Secret suffragette

I loved the suspense in the story. I liked how brave Daisy was she always stood up for Lilly. Miss Bryce and Thomas were so kind. It sent a chill up my spine when it said Lilly was lying still on the ground.

Historical and Uplifting

My 8 year old listened to this story intently and enjoyed it tremendously. It was informative, very well told, and fascinating to learn about what daily life and the perspective of society were like not too long ago.

A good ending. Too heavy for an under 8 year old, but never uncomfortable or stressful for my 8 year old.

Great story about the suffragette movement

the story is well told and illustrates real like struggles for working families in the early 1900s.
