Summary
"If you want to see your daughter alive again, listen carefully."
When the body of a snatched schoolgirl is found in an abandoned biosciences building, the case is first treated as a kidnapping gone wrong.
But Detective Kay Hunter isn’t convinced, especially when a man is found dead with the ransom money still in his possession.
When a second schoolgirl is taken, Kay’s worst fears are realized.
With her career in jeopardy and desperate to conceal a disturbing secret, Kay’s hunt for the killer becomes a race against time before he claims another life.
For the killer, the game has only just begun...
Scared to Death is the first book in a nail-biting crime thriller series featuring Kay Hunter - a detective with a hidden past and an uncertain future…

Oh dear!
The story is easy enough to listen to, lovely escapism, and it does leave you wanting to get the next instalment…. But the narrator! Dreadful. She does well when she just reads… a tad too deliberate perhaps, but you can forget that once you’re in the storyline. But goodness: she then attempts to do various ‘voices’… truly dreadful. It lacks natural reading talent and if you do ‘voices/ characters’ you need a bit of acting talent… or at least ‘get’ the character!
I am disappointed, sadly. Need to check other books in series… perhaps readers’ feedback will be heard by the powers?
That would be excellent!
Fingers crossed, eh?
