Summary

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “The clearest and best book out there to get you on the path to riches. This one’s special!”—Jim Cramer, host of CNBC’s Mad Money

“Great tools for anyone wanting to dabble in the stock market.”—USA Today

Phil Town is a very wealthy man, but he wasn’t always. In fact, he was living on a salary of $4,000 a year when some well-timed advice launched him down a highway of investing self-education that revealed what the true “rules” are and how to make them work in one’s favor. Chief among them, of course, is Rule #1: “Don’t lose money.”

In this updated edition to the #1 national bestseller, you’ll learn more of Phil’s fresh, think-outside-the-box rules, including:
• Don’t diversify
• Only buy a stock when it’s on sale
Think long term—but act short term to maximize your return
• And most of all, beat the big investors at their own game by using the tools designed for them

As Phil demonstrates in this book, giant mutual funds can’t help but regress to the mean—and as we’ve all learned in recent years, that mean could be very disappointing indeed. Fortunately, Rule #1 takes listeners step-by-step through a do-it-yourself process, equipping even the biggest investing-phobes with the tools they need to make quantum leaps toward financial security—regardless of where the market is headed.

I learnt a lot

I've been looking at starting to invest and I found this book a good starting point, it has a decent amount of things to teach.
This book is aimed more at the American listener with some of the terms used but still very valuable.
I will definitely listen again and will buy the hard copy as a reference guide

waste of time and money. There isn't much else to add. I would not recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn about investing money.

Not terrible but also not that great

A good and simultaniously bad thing about this book is that it explains things as if the reader has absolutely no idea of finance or investing. Probably good for beginners but very unappealing for people who know a thing or two.

The introduction is way too long. In the introduction the author tries to sell you his idea by saying who uses this strategy and how much money people make using it. I get it, you need some convincing. But it is way overdone. Could have been done in 1/3 the pages. A lot of words, very little substance.

Also, quite a substantial part of the book is spent on where you can find financial statements. Not interesting at all if you already have acces to this information.

Chapters are not named in the audible app so you dont know what is covered in each chapter. Very frustrating if you want to skip to the good parts.

TL:DR --> Discusses some interesting ideas usefull for both beginning and "experienced" investors. However, the book goes into way too much detail when explaining financial metrics. Might be a good starter for a beginner. Not suited for people who have knowledge about finance. 4/10.

All what you need as Investor

I wasn't convinced about the autor and the name of the book, but when I saw his rule number one is Warren Buffett rules, I felt in love of this book, you have formulas, links, and everything that you need to do it yourself, it's just brilliant.

Clear and concise introduction to value investing

I found the book informative. I gave me the courage to try investing in stocks rather than just indexes. Clear instructions and plenty of examples.

Nice Combination of Value Investing and Technical

Nice combination of value investing and technical analysis. It teaches a strategy that's too conservative in my opinion, but creates a nice understanding of stock investing.
