About this listen
In this essential handbook - a blend of Rich Dad, Poor Dad and The Happiness Project - the cohost of the wildly popular InvestED podcast shares her yearlong journey learning to invest, as taught to her by her father, investor and best-selling author Phil Town.
Growing up, the words finance, savings, and portfolio made Danielle Town's eyes glaze over, and the thought of stocks and financial statements shut down her brain. The daughter of a successful investor and best-selling financial author of Rule #1, Phil Town, she spent most of her adult life avoiding investing - until she realized that her time-consuming career as a lawyer was making her feel anything but in control of her life or her money. Determined to regain her freedom, vote for her values with her money, and deal with her fear of the unpredictable stock market, she turned to her father, Phil, to help her take charge of her life and her future through Warren Buffett-style value investing. Over the course of a year, Danielle went from avoiding everything to do with the financial industrial complex to knowing exactly how and when to invest in wonderful companies.
In Invested, Danielle shows you how to do the same: how to take command of your own life and finances by choosing companies with missions that match your values, using the same gold-standard strategies that have catapulted Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger to the top of the Forbes 400. Avoiding complex math and obsolete financial models, she turns her father's investing knowledge into 12 easy-to-understand lessons.
In each chapter Danielle examines the investment strategies she mastered as her increasing know-how deepened the trust between her and her father. Throughout, she streamlines the process of making wise financial decisions and shows you just how easy - and profitable - investing can be.
Capturing a warm, charming, and down-to-earth give and take between a headstrong daughter and her mostly patient dad, Invested makes the complex world of investing simple, straightforward, and approachable and will help you formulate your own investment plan - and foster the confidence to put it into action. A fully comprehensive introduction to value investing
This is an amazing book for beginners as it comprehensively outlines Charlie’s four pillars of value investing and let’s you know what numbers you should look for on financial statements and what they mean.
However, it gets a little repetitive and annoying how much Danielle stresses out about getting into investing

A simply superb book.
This is the first book I've written a review about having listened to nearly 30 since signing up to audible. Being a complete investing novice, I have listened to several books about the subject and this is, without hyperbole, the best I've listened to. It is packed full of wonderful insights of the world of value investing but, most importantly, the authors candid prose speaks directly to the emotions and feelings that those starting out in investing cannot avoid. It is a funny and heartfelt book that brings to life the theory in a way that is incredibly compelling. It has definitely inspired me to emulate the authors journey and discover what it is to be a value investor. I highly recommend this book, especially to anyone who feels they do not understand the stock market and are nervous about investing their money. You'd be hard pushed to find a book that is both as informative and inspiring.

Simply awesome
A great book for newbies to the investment world who are simply fed up with the cripplingly low bank interest rates and want to really build a happy financial future.

A great insight into beginner investmenting
This book provides a great insight into the fears and misunderstandings many of us have about investing and tells a great story of discovery, doubt, hardwork and eventually success of the investment journey.
Highly recommended for anyone who is thinking about investing and not sure what the journey may entail.

I love this book
They say a successful person can read as much as 50 books a year. Well, I spend 5 hours a day in traffic and working toward financial freedom... duh, that’s why I got the book.
And I can tell you this, I have listened to over 50 books in the last 9 months, I don’t review them all, but in this case I did. Because, it awesome.
Told with a story, Danielle’s delivery of the book is fantastic.
The content is easy to understand (mostly)
And it comes with PDF’s to study and bolster your learning (when your home and not in traffic..)
So, according to audible, I am a master listener. Of the hundreds of hours spent hearing different voiceovers, delivery’s and content, this one makes it in to the top 5 most prized pieces of audio content to date.
That said, content can be king, and this book doesn’t disappoint. It is full of information I haven’t really found elsewhere and Danielle walks you through it all making excellent reference to additional material and other works to check out.
Lastly, example: rich dad poor dad is cool, but I find it a typical ‘do this, do that’ without actual instruction (missing the HOW). Invested has instruction, GOOD instruction, and specialises in one thing instead of skimming the surface of 10 other rabbit holes
I’m rereading this by the way.
