Story
Eight years ago, when the Philistines stole and then surrendered the ark of the covenant back to the Israelites, Eliora left her Philistine homeland to follow the ark to the community of Kiryat Yearim. There, the family she was adopted into has guarded the ark at the top of a mountain in seclusion. Ronen is a Levite musician determined to return the ark to Shiloh, where his tribe believes it belongs. He never expected that the Philistine girl he rescued years ago would now be part of the very family he's tasked to deceive.

Story
Seeking peace and safety after a hard childhood, Leah marries Judah, a strong and gentle man, and for the first time in her life Leah believes she can rest easily. But the land is ruled by Antiochus IV, descended from one of Alexander the Great's generals, and when he issues a decree that all Jews are to conform to Syrian laws upon pain of death, devout Jews risk everything to follow the law of Moses. Judah's father resists the decree, igniting a war that will cost him his life. But before dying, he commands his son to pick up his sword and continue the fight - or bear responsibility for the obliteration of the land of Judah. Leah, who wants nothing but peace, struggles with her husband's decision - what kind of God would destroy the peace she has sought for so long?

Story
Was Mary Magdalene a prostitute, a female divinity figure, a church leader, or all of those? Biblical references to her are tantalizingly brief, but we do know that she was the first person to whom the risen Christ appeared - and the one commissioned to tell others the good news, earning her the ancient honorific "Apostle to the Apostles". Today, Mary continues to spark controversy, curiosity, and veneration. In a vivid re-creation of Mary Magdalene's life story, Margaret George convincingly captures this renowned woman's voice.

"You will be called Anippe, daughter of the Nile. Do you like it?" Without waiting for a reply, she pulls me into her squishy, round tummy for a hug. I’m trying not to cry. Pharaoh's daughters don't cry. When we make our way down the tiled hall, I try to stop at ummi Kiya's chamber. I know her spirit has flown, yet I long for one more moment. Amenia pushes me past so I keep walking and don't look back. Like the waters of the Nile, I will flow.

Story
People unfamiliar with Scripture often assume that women play a small, secondary role in the Bible. But in fact, they were central figures in numerous Biblical tales. It was Queen Esther’s bravery at a vital point in history which saved her entire people. The Bible contains warriors like Jael, judges like Deborah, and prophets like Miriam. The first person to witness Jesus’ resurrection was Mary Magdalene, who promptly became the first Christian evangelist, eager to share the news which would change the world forever.

Summary
A Powerful Novelization from Best-Selling Author Angela Hunt
Epic in scope yet deeply personal, this novelization offers a unique perspective on the story of the resurrection.
Roman Tribune Clavius is assigned by Pilate to keep the radical followers of the recently executed Yeshua from stealing the body and inciting revolution. When the body goes missing despite his precautions, Clavius must hunt it down. His investigation leads him from the halls of Herod Antipas to the Garden of Gethsemane and brings him in touch with believer and doubter alike. But as the body still remains missing, Clavius commits to a quest for the truth - and answers that will not only shake his life but echo throughout all of history.

I very much enjoyed how the book was told from a 2 person simultaneous situation. I find it amazing that a new life was brought to the most beautiful but also best know stories of all time. Having to come up with a unique presentation and then a high quality telling of the greatest story ever told.

I wanted to love it...
I read this book after seeing the movie, which was, IMO, a much more gripping experience, if also far from perfect. I did enjoy the love story in the book, and the author's reverent and meticulous attention to detail, as well as the fleshing out of emotions absent from cinema. I might have given it an overall of 4 stars if the climax near the end had not felt so flat, or abrupt, or both. It's worth a listen, because the story is, in and of itself, so compelling... so everything!

Better Than the Movie
I enjoyed the premise of the book and the idea that the body of Christ, after the Resurrection, would have been searched for by the Romans so as to prove He was just an ordinary man. The book has a lot more to it than the movie, with additional characters and insight into their personalities. I think in both, although more so in the movie, the sheer awe of seeing this Man, whom you helped to kill, is now alive and walking the earth again, is missing, but the writer gets close to it in the book.

An amazing story of an Awesome Truth
Read this and believe. The vivid power of the Risen Jesus is here but handled with human hands. The narrative is beautiful and it's easy to come to love all the characters for who they are. Rachel and Clavius are real somehow despite their fiction. But best the love story only augmented the Love Story of the Creator for His creation especially... man
