About this listen
The brooding hero, gypsy Jake Lovell, under whose magic hands the most difficult horse or woman becomes biddable, is driven to the top by his loathing of the darling of the show ring, Rupert Campbell-Black.
Having filched each other’s horses, and fought and fornicated their way around the capitals of Europe, the feud between the two men finally erupts with devastating consequences at the Los Angeles Olympics.

Classic Jilly at her Best
Jilly Cooper’s best novel in my humble opinion. Brilliantly read by Gerri Halligan. A must for all showjumping fans or lovers of a good country romp!

loved it !!
I first read this book around 30 years ago and was a little unsure if I'd like audible version, decided to give it a go when it was on sale. I cannot recommend it enough, this is now my favourite audio book , storyline great, narration is excellent, I just loved it

It was good
I did enjoy this book however 30 hours is incredibly long and it wasnt really attention grabbing untill the Olympics in Los Angeles. What I didnt quite understand was who the hell some of the characters were, like Count Gee? I believed it a bit too long and hard to follow. However I thought the characters were excellent (except Rupert, he made me so angry throughout) and I think the plot line was good too. But what else confussed me was the fact that Funella was a child at the beggining and an Olympic show jumper at the end? I couldnt really get to grips with the time scale. But I'd definatly recomend it if you have a good concentration span, as it is definatly a good book, and Gerri Halligan has a really nice voice.

Fantastic book
I read this years ago, After watching the series (I think it was a series on itv) so listening to this was very nostalgic for me.
Really well performed not many readers have the ability to play so many characters with different voices and personalities. I really enjoyed listening to this, a sign of a good author and performer, they actually make you feel you are there. Great teamwork! I look forward to listening to further performances by Gerri Halligan

I read this book now than 20 years ago and I enjoyed the audible version just as much. Fantastic narration and a brilliant story of characters you love to hate. Highly recommend.

Great.
I read this back when it came out in the 80's. A great book, so well written with great characterisation and storyline, although definitely of that era. I loved listening to this Audible version. The narration was first class.
