About this listen
Steve Brown joined the army in 1993 as a troubled teenager and left as a respected sergeant-major in 2020. After passing the gruelling Parachute Regiment recruit process and selection for the elite Pathfinder Platoon he travelled the world, deployed on multiple operations, and pushed himself beyond breaking point, both physically and mentally. His story provides a unique insight into Britain's elite airborne forces, including their training, ethos, and indomitable mindset.
From desert to Arctic, jungle to delta, urban to rural, he's experienced some of the most hostile places on Earth. This autobiography covers the extreme highs and lows of a veteran's life with tales of humour, humility, hardship, and heroics.

Regimental
One of the best audio books I’ve listened to in a while. A honest and straight up insight to Steve’s career in the para’s.

Very good honest account of serving one’s country
Terrific book about a bloke who served his country with distinction! A truthful and honest account of life in the military and coping afterwards. Shines a light on what incredible things such people haven’t endure to keep us safe. Great book, genuine and no ego by the author. 🙌🏻👍🏻

Gritty Look at a man's life before and after serving in one of Britain's elite units
Great look into the life of a soldier before during and after a full career. civilians will get a sense of the mindset and sacrifice career soldiers make and veterans and serving will relate to many of the struggles, issues, laughs and trauma that soldiers of the last 20years have faced.
highly recommend this book great listen.

Rollercoaster of Emotions
I served on some of the same tours but in a very different capacity. I remember Steve cutting around, the stereotype of a Paratrooper. Ally AF.
The reality of Steve’s journey, his treatment toward the end of his career and the turmoil that came later is a story that will strike a nerve with many and should enlighten others, issues of self-worth, depression and lacking identity are hard to align with the memory of the dude.
Much respect Steve - people need to share these thoughts and struggles so that others can accept that it is okay to share and to seek help when they are struggling.

Brutally honest review on life in the military
Easy to listen, funny and relatable. I enjoyed every minute of this book and took a lot from it, if you're in the military or not give it a listen. Thank you.

Honest and Modest
As someone who can draw some parallels with Steve, and who has met some of the characters he refers to, I chuckled along as he tells some of his stories, and listened in awe at others. I then howled as I listened to his description of his intolerance of bad manners and indiscipline, whilst sat in a queue on the M5. I loved the translation of military terminology. Great listen.
