About this listen

Late in the 26th century, the human race has advanced enough to accidentally trigger the Inhibitors---alien-killing machines designed to detect intelligent life and destroy it. The only hope for humanity lies in the recovery of a secret cache of doomsday weapons---and a renegade named Clavain who is determined to find them. But other factions want the weapons for their own purposes---and the weapons themselves have another agenda altogether.©2008 Alastair Reynolds (P)2009 Tantor Fiction First Contact Hard Science Fiction Science Fiction Space Opera

The story of the book is great and really enjoyable.
The narrator did a good job and this is well worth your time.

The span of this trilogy is such that a second listen is very worthwhile. The narrator is excellent.

An exceptional story with one and half feet standing in science. I’m absolutely blown away!

The realism

A little slow to begin with, but it proves itself a worthy successor to the first. A must grab for any scifi buffs

An excellent sequel

what can i say

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

It is for sure a massive work. Amazing imagination and founded ins some fun aspects of popular science.
Some aspects of the writing feel dated (the roles of female characters not always in the best position) and the credulity of some of the characters belies the post-truth Trumpian world of social media we live in now - but then that’s quaint and enjoyable.

Good story, big ideas

I was an instant fan of Reynolds when i first read revelation space. This novel however is even better. It spans so much time and space, waeves fantastic, futuristic, yet somehow feasible technology into the story line that this could very well be i historic roman sent back from the far future.
Did I mention I liked it?

Thoroughly enjoyable! A nice balance between bright and dark overtones also neither too militaristic neither full of technobabble. I like this.

A fine scifi story
