About this listen

VBI (Vermont Bureau of Investigation) head Joe Gunther and his team are called in to investigate a series of violent deaths that appear unrelated until telltale clues reveal a linkage between them and that all of the deaths are, in fact, murders. However, apart from a single drop of unexplained blood left at each crime scene, there are no obvious connections between the victims or the cases.

In the search for the elusive truth, the VBI must plumb the depths of every suspect's past, every victim's most intimate details, and examine each piece of evidence down to the smallest detail - an examination which includes a trip to the Brookhaven National Lab and an exploration of cutting edge forensic technology.

One of the best yet

This was brilliant- great story, great narration, thoroughly gripping & enjoyable. Thought I was about to give up on this series given recent stories & narration - completely seemed to have lost its way - but this is first class and the narration is excellent too. Phew!

Bring back Tom Taylorson!

The Joe Gunther novels are easy listening. Nothing particularly clever or sophisticated about them - but enjoyable brain candy. I devoured the first load of them as they were superbly performed by Tom Taylorson. I have no idea why the performer has been switched but it’s ruined the whole experience. I’m only sticking with them as I’ve read that after a few more boom Tom is indeed back at the helm. Thank goodness!

Great story and narration

I was put off by the negative reviews about the narrator but actually after a few minutes I realised he s just as good as the other one. Joes new voice takes a few minutes to get used to but as soon as you’re lost in the story it’s fine. A very good ply, too.
