About this listen
Centuries after the last humans left Earth, the Exodus Fleet is a living relic, a place many are from but few outsiders have seen. Humanity has finally been accepted into the galactic community, but while this has opened doors for many, those who have not yet left for alien cities fear that their carefully cultivated way of life is under threat.
Tessa chose to stay home when her brother Ashby left for the stars, but has to question that decision when her position in the Fleet is threatened.
Kip, a reluctant young apprentice, itches for change but doesn't know where to find it.
Sawyer, a lost and lonely newcomer, is just looking for a place to belong.
And when a disaster rocks this already fragile community, those Exodans who still call the Fleet their home can no longer avoid the inescapable question:
What is the purpose of a ship that has reached its destination?
Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.©2018 Becky Chambers (P)2018 Hodder & Stoughton Limited

Humanity idealized
This is an amazing account of hopefully how we would behave if we ever make it as a spacefaring civilisation. I will not spoil anything, but it is a slow burn, if you make it past the middle it is worth it.

the most enjoyable sci fi universe
the most enjoyable sci fi universe I have encountered. Steinbeck in space, except life is mostly OK.

another one that made me cry
took me a little longer to get into this one. but it's a charming telling of people just being people in space. very slice of life, with a smattering of how cultural differences would work. world building through character centered narration.
I think it would read just as well on it's own if you're unfamiliar. still, I warmly recommend this whole series. it's sooooo good.
fork over the creds and enjoy ;)

Excellent narration of a compelling story
I’ve read the book before and adored it, and the narration on this version totally lives up to the story! It’s a beautiful tale of humanity, space and emotion.

Lovely
I can't stop re-listening to the wayfarer series. Just as with the shift between the fiest abd second book they are all quite different and yet at the heart the same. This book talks a lot about family, stages in life and the exodus ways.

Lacked a story of note
Like the rest of the books in this series, there has been a lot of thought and imagination put into writing the book. However, unlike the other books there isn't really much of a story. The characters don't grab you and the book doesn't go anywhere. Shame really as I really like the other books.
