Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Susannah Constantine, our loved style guru and one half of the outrageously popular television programme What Not to Wear, spent her youth entangled in glitz and glamour. Susannah's very first memoir is filled to the brim with scandalous stories, jaw-dropping royal relationships and star-studded encounters from pop stars to the fashion greats. But beneath it all is a woman who is still getting to know herself, even after falling in love at first sight, presenting one of the most monumental television programmes ever and having Princess Margaret as a second mother figure.
Uncertain of her future, unsure of how to cope with her own mother's tragic battle with bipolar disorder and becoming a mother herself, Susannah is on a journey of discovery, and her memoir tells you her greatest loves and lessons, bound together with disarming honesty and beguiling humour.

Bit disappointing
Can't quite put my finger on why this was a little disappointing. Firstly Susannah reads this in quite a stilted way at times which is a bit jarring. Obviously she has lived her life to the full but I couldn't quite understand how she could so easily describe her infatuation with a gay friend and trips to hedonistic gay clubs whilst apparently happily married. It didn't add up for me. That said I respect her honest description of being an alcoholic. That takes guts. Little or no narrative about her time with Trinny, a big gap in my opinion. On the whole she is interesting but perhaps a little too privileged to really get that other people just don't have the same advantages. I came away feeling a bit unimpressed despite all the wealth and hob nobbing with celebrities.

What a life!
An IT girl and influencer of her time, and before the concepts had even been invented, Susannah Constantine has lived a life most people can only dream of! Hobnobbing with the great and the good of the time, including the Royal Family! Susannah's legal team probably had a field day with some of these anecdotes! The only thing that lets it down is her stilted reading style. She tends to put the emphasis on the wrong part of the sentence, which can reduce the impact of the story. I do love a book read by the author but just would have liked Susannah to have been a bit lighter in the delivery. Great book though.

Really good read
Unflinchingly and hilariously honest, interesting and very very readable. I really liked Susannah before listening to this book and I still really like her. The only thing I would have liked to hear more about was her friendship and career with Trinny. I thought it odd that she skimmed over it. Nonetheless I would happily recommend a listen.

Humble and hilarious
Very enjoyable, made me laugh out loud numerous times. Susanna isn’t a polished reader-out-loud but somehow this made her more endearing… recommended listening

An honest , amusing autobiography
The downside of this audible book is that the author - despite her media and public speaking background - does not do her work justice. Her delivery is flat and almost devoid of emotion. Having said that, and ending up reading rather than listening, the work is both amusing and dead honest. If you happen to be of a similar vintage as the author , then it’s also a comforting reminder of all the trends, fashions , people and stories you grew up with

Appropriately titled
Far too much namedropping, scatalogical detail and narcissistic obsession with bodily functions for my taste. I expected something funnier and more interesting.

A fascinating insight into how the other half live
I really enjoyed this book. I found it so interesting to hear Susannah's life stories. A life she was born into. Funny too. I love listening to books like these where you can get an understanding of someone else's life.
