About this listen

The winsome Anne Shirley is grown, has married her beloved Gilbert, and is the mother of six frolicsome children. Anne and her family experience some unimaginable events when a strange family moves into a nearby mansion. The Meredith family is comprised of two boys and two girls, a minister father but no mother, and a runaway girl named Mary Vance. The clever and mischievous Meredith kids join Anne's children in a private hideout to carry out plans to save Mary from the orphanage, to help the lonely minister find happiness, and to save a pet rooster from becoming a soup ingredient. The sun-dappled world of Rainbow Valley is always full of adventure and delight.Hear more stories in the Anne of Green Gables series.(P)1995 Blackstone Audiobooks Classics Growing Up Growing Up & Facts of Life Primary Education

Moving , well written , captivating

I love Lucy Mauds work. I wish this was more about AnnE and her family but I still love it and could listen to it for hours and again on repeat. Well actually I do.

Racial slurs should be removed

Love the story but would definitely be improved without racial slurs - please fix this. I understand that times were different when this book was written but they weren't when audible was created. If they can't be removed maybe a disclaimer would be good like Disney do on old films.

It is a beautiful tale of trials and love ❤️

i ought to continue with my studies but had to know that the children would get what they deserve. Anne was fleeting in this, but it was wonderful to get to know her children. life in a small community sounds quite tiresome in those days. There are so many restrictions and so much judgement from Christian folk. Exhausting! Written so beautifully, you can't help feeling invested.

Not a fan of the narration.

This book, story-wise, could have been the best in the world, but it was hard to tell how good it was because the narration was awful. I understand that this was recorded some time ago and is available for free with a subscription but some of the others in this series had much better narrators who didn’t sound bored with life. Rainbow Valley is a late in a series book as it is, but could have been read with much more energy and interest in my opinion. Even listening on 1.3 speed it felt slow.
