About this listen

“No matter how familiar you may be with the Psalms, an incredible amount of information and insight can be gained through this commentary." (Christian Retailing)

Whether you’re a serious Bible student probing through Psalm 19 or a first-time student inspired by the promise of Psalm 23, this first volume on the book of Psalms explores each of the first 41 Psalms, uncovering deep reflections, wisdom for living, and verses of praise, confidence, and repentance.

  • Psalm 1 stresses the importance of God’s guidance in one’s life.
  • Psalm 16 foretells Jesus’s resurrection, a startling and impressive declaration for the time.
  • Psalm 23 portrays life as a pilgrimage, where God is provider, comforter, and friend.

This expositional commentary on one of the Bible’s most popular books combines careful scholarship and clear communication in a verse-by-verse and section-by-section reading of the biblical text. Integrating thoughtful interpretation with contemporary insight for daily living, James Montgomery Boice explains the meaning of the text and relates the text’s concerns to the church, Christianity, and the world in which we live.

Listened to one of these psalm explanations each morning before rising. Really enlightening and gave great comfort to. A great way to start the day. By asking the Holy Spirit for understanding and listening to this author I got a great deal from this book. Will listen to it routinely as the Holy Spirit can reveal new things that you may have missed. The narrator is pleasant to listen to. This book covers psalms 1 - 41, I intend to purchase further books in the series covering the other psalms. Good purchase.

Unfortunately not all the book’s contents are in the recording.
For instance I was listening to Psalm 23 but the recording cuts off abruptly missing some important points made by Dr Boice in his commentary
I do hope this is a one off! We shall see.
Very disappointing
