About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

A priest is murdered and a Private agent is the number one suspect.

Jack Morgan is in Rome celebrating the opening of the new local Private office, when the party takes a deadly turn. Private agent Matteo Ricci is found at the party standing over the body of a dead priest with a gun in hand, swearing he did not kill the man.

As Jack tries to prove Matteo's innocence, he uncovers a much deadlier conspiracy - which leads straight to the heart of the Vatican.

With corruption closing in on all sides, Jack must decide who he can trust before the city falls.

First class

Agree with reviewer who said it’s been a long time since we’ve had such a good story combined with wonderful snapshots of Rome. Best narrator in the business.

Private Rome - leave romance alone

The Private books nearly always make a good read. I enjoyed Private Rome. The only thing that is starting to annoy me is the silly way Justine is portrayed in her relationship with Jack. She was originally written as a tough women, top in her field. Now she has been reduced to this silly little women, terrified every minute Jack is out of her sight. Please bring back the strong women!!

A Rome guidebook like no other

It’s a few years since I have enjoyed a James Patterson level. I know Rome well and the story combined with the descriptions of Rome streets and areas enhanced my enjoyment of the plot. The performances of the narrators was excellent.

Rome with a twist

The location of Rome had to tell a story which included a mob boss, and the Vatican, along with many clergy story was easy to follow although some of the Italian words were pretty long. I wouldn’t say it’s the best in the private series, but a good listen, nonetheless.

Northwest listener

Another good Private novel, thoroughly enjoyed this not only for the actual storyline but for the actual description of ancient Rome.

Stopt after half an hour.

So many cliches….
A shame because I love the setting in Rome.

Definitely not my thing. Could be yours?!
