Summary
An ancient creature lives in the Arizona desert. A man-eating beast of legend, it feeds on all who dare to venture into its domain.
Eddie Marquez is an infamous criminal looking to start a new life with his girlfriend, hoping the Western sun will scorch away the sins of his past. He has one last drug deal to make before he can put it all behind him. But four disgruntled cops refuse to let him walk free, setting out to take the law into their own hands.
Two tribal police officers are escorts to a civilian researcher looking for evidence of a lost civilization. Until the car crash. Now they are stranded in the desert, and a storm is coming. Tonight, all their paths will converge. If they don’t work together, no one will make it out alive.
They will plunge into a long-forgotten labyrinth of caves, deep into the earth, searching for salvation from the menacing predator outside…and the horror hiding within.

Creature feature fun
In the beginning of the story, I actually almost quit because nearly all of the characters seemed to be utterly despicable people. But I am a fan of Jesse D'Angelo's other works and so I trusted that it was a conscious choice on his part and kept listening. And I'm so glad I did! The traits of these characters and the way in which they were portrayed was indeed important to the story. I don't want to give anything away, but just know that you are not supposed to like the majority of the characters. Hang in there and you will be rewarded with a glorious monster of epic proportions. My only minor complaint is that the story wraps up a little too neatly, and real life is usually a bit messier.

Creatures and Criminals
What happens when you mix cops and criminals with an ancient creature in the Arizona desert? This tension filled tale!
The author has done a good job of incorporating the tale of a terror inducing creature with the background stories of the individual characters. There were enough twists to keep the story interesting and enough horror to keep the lovers of the genre engaged.
This is the second book I have read by this author and I have learned that he will take the reader on a wild ride with his stories. I will definitely be reading more by Mr. D'Angelo and recommending him to horror loving readers! The narrator does a good job and his performance added a lot to my enjoyment.

Prey to God is a well written fast paced horror story about some cops/criminals who have to get along long enough to survive an ancient desert monster.
I really like the character development and the back stories of each character. It was fast past and FULL of action and twists.
(Sean Dureggar did a great job narrating and switching up the characters voices)

crime action folklore
An action packed modern crime/Native American folklore tale, D'Angelo weaves the two worlds together nicely. A great listen that kept me entertained to the end
