Summary
Fake love, real sparks.
When Celeste Lamontagne receives a wedding invitation from her ex, she's furious. The only thing worse than being cheated on? Seeing your ex and the girl she cheated with get married. Less than a year later. And as part of a two-week long Mediterranean cruise. But they say the best revenge is a life well lived, right? Not for Celeste, it isn't. It's arranging an elaborate fake relationship with someone to make your ex jealous.
Lane Bishop is the perfect someone to do just that. Impulsive to the extreme, she loses her job right in front of Celeste. There goes Lane's best shot at becoming a stylist in New York City. She can have another chance if she agrees to travel with Celeste, pretending to be her girlfriend so that Celeste's ex sees her happy and thriving. The only catch? Celeste's an heiress accustomed to getting everything she wants. She's rigorous about details - some might say spoiled - which clashes with a free spirit like Lane.
The sparks between Celeste and Lane become harder and harder to ignore. Can they convince the wedding guests of their passion without the flames setting them both alight?
Contains mature themes.

excellent........
Pretend Girlfriend is an excellent listen, possibly because the narration is so good ! How often is an audiobook spoilt or reduced because of the narration, well it's great to hear 'these two' raising the narration bar !
The description of the travels transport you to the lovely places Celeste and Lane visit.

2.5 Stars
To be perfectly honest I should have DNF'ed this. I just tuned it out at about 50%. I didn't care for the narrators. The story actually seemed pretty good. Sapphic rom-com like. Fake relationship turns to something more.
I did finish it and considering I'm not angry I thought 3 stars was okay.

Good
Got it because it was an included title and quite a short listen. Thoroughly enjoyed it and the two voice performance was very good .

Nice story
I liked both this sweet story and the narration - it’s way better than the reviews on Audible shows

Poor narration
I’ve read this on Kindle and really enjoyed the story, so looked forward to the audio version. Unfortunately, the narration is poor. Angry tone used when it definitely shouldn’t be. Really disappointing as the story itself is decent. Turning off now!

Better than reviews suggest
The pretend girlfriend story had enough originality in it to make it a fun story. The narrator for Lane’s character, while good, didn’t really fit with this novel.

Narration is bad so read instead of listen
Don't know why producers keep picking Emily Beresford to narrate romance novels. She is difficult to listen to as she has a harsh voice with a grating quality. This might be fine for hard-boiled authority figures - police detectives, head teachers, some older women etc - but is not at all suitable for expressing softer emotions like vulnerability, sadness, sympathy, love, fun, youthfulness and even excitement. My rating also reflects that generally I am not keen on tales about spoilt rich girls, however this story is well written and, with a better narrator for Lane's part and a better producer, could make a good audiobook.
