Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I definitely recommend this audio book. I'm at the end of my second smokeless week and feel that the exercises have been a huge contributor not only to stopping but keeping stopped, and have reinforced my determination to carry on.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the fact that you can use the workbook whenever and wherever you like. I'm not saying that it's been completely pain free but I've been surprised at how it's been a lot easier than I expected. The first part is about making the decision to stop and as I'd already made the decision I was going to skip that part but I'm glad I didn't and in fact I've been back to it to remind myself. I was smoking 20-30 cigarettes a day and had got to the point where I felt it was controlling my life. Plus I had a terrible cough that was a bit worrying. The hypnotherapy exercises are getting me past the cravings and helping me feel good about stopping and all the practical information and tips are very helpful. Like avoiding the pleasurable associations for example. Like sitting outside my favourite coffee shop with an espresso and a fag. Some of it seemed a bit obvious but it's good to have it chirping in your ear, combatting the negative and tempting thoughts when they arise - and they have!!

What does Jan Cramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I quite like the narrators voice. It's friendly and relaxing in itself.Having that voice in your ear is far better than just reading it would be.It's like calling on a friend to support you (although none of my friends sound like her) what she says is very supportive and encouraging.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Funnily enough, the beginning decision part was the part I found the most powerful.Like realising that a relationship you're in is a toxic one.Getting my head around the fact that I was relying on something that was poisonous in a way that hadn't really got through to me before. All the messages on cig packets were just something to be avoided and not looked at.That personalisation of my relationship with tobacco was really potent.

Any additional comments?

This book has been a brilliant help. Thank you!

I was expecting more self hypnosis around smoking and stopping smoking where as this seemed more general. It may suit others but not me so much.

I didn’t find this very helpful. Seemed more about affirmation rather than hypnosis.
