Summary

He’s inherited every English boy’s dream car. But to hold on to it, he’ll have to get his hands dirty.

Eric Sibley loves his upscale job and the good life it provides. So when the corporate climber inherits his father’s Aston Martin DB4, he’s excited to drive his wife and daughter around in style. But he’s shocked to discover he can only have the flashy auto if he agrees to get a little mud on his polished shoes.

Confined to the will’s strict guidelines, he has no choice but to venture far from his London office and keep his father’s community veggie patch growing. But his hare-brained shortcuts to worm his way out of the obligation only dig him deeper into trouble with his worried wife and the meddling rural greenthumbs.

Has Eric spoiled his stake in the allotment and ruined everything, or will his failed schemes reveal the very thing that matters most?

Peas, Carrots and an Aston Martin is a heart-warming novel from the Peas and Carrots humorous fiction series. If you like crazy capers, quirky characters, and brilliant second chances, then you’ll love Kindle Storyteller Award winner Hannah Lynn’s madcap tale.

Peas,carrots and an Aston Martin

This was a really good start to this series! Eric is left his fathers Aston Martin, with the stipulation that he til the allotment that his father grew veggies on for 2 years. He is left nothing else.Despite living far from the place,he tries to get it into shape and keep his job,What a farce! Rafe Beckley was a terrific narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

A solid soaking of saliva.

When George Shipley dies, his almost estranged only son, Eric, expects to inherit everything: the house, any money, his mother's jewellery and Sally, the 40 years old Aston Martin. Eric and his wife had already planned how they were going to spend their new found wealth. But George had other ideas and, despite not being religious, left everything to the church. Apart from the old Aston Martin which went to Eric, provided that, for two years, his son weekly tended to an allotment in the home town of Burlam, over an hour's drive from his home in London's Islington. The book follows Eric's struggle to balance family and work pressures with trying to keep his only inheritance.
Narration is by Rafe Beckley whose reading is well paced and intoned, and who gives separate voice to each of the characters. A nice performance.

Simply but powerfully written, this very amusing story turns grumpy confrontations and quirky characters into laughter. And it is an absolute must read for any gardening fans. At times poignant and often funny, the book is the first in a trilogy which i, for kne, look forward to reading. I was very fortunate in being freely gifted a complimentary copy of Peas, Carrots and an Aston Martin, at my request, by the rights holder. Thank you. The book was great fun but also wise without ever being preachy. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone looking for a gentle comedy (with vegetables and a car!)

so funny!!

I have loved listening to this audiobook and giggled most of the way through. I was only going to have 10 minutes to see what it was like and ended up listening to most of it in one session!!!

iIt is set around an allotment after the father of the main character died and left him an allotment and a car but he could only keep the car if he tended to the allotment on a weekly bases.

The narrator made the book come alive and he read it well

Maybe money isn’t everything

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

I loved this audiobook it really touched my heart. When Eric discovers his father has only left him his car in his will he is very unhappy. Then Eric discovers that there are guidelines to keeping the car as well which including ensuring that his father allotment is properly tended and cared for every week. At every corner Eric seems to be wondering is it worth all of this effort just to keep this car but along the way it was beautiful to see his eye open up to the actual lesson he was being taught and becoming a better man because of it.

Laugh Out Loud

A great book, fantastic storyline with a few sad bits but mostly it did make me laugh out loud. Narrator did a fab job and I am really looking forward to listening to the next book.

Light-hearted

This was a light hearted book telling the story of Eric whose father has died leaving him an Aston Martin, which would be good if there weren't conditions attached. The story is of Eric's struggles to balance life whilst meeting the conditions. Along the way he meets and intersting, quirky set of characters who help him understand what is important. An amusing book, well narrated that I really enjoyed. Am looking forward to reading more in the series.

Funny with feeling

A funny story of family & strife.
It starts with a Dad passing away & not exactly writing the will of his sons dreams!
I had a few sniggers at this, some aaw moments too. It was funny but it had feeling too.
A good listen with funny moments, enjoyed it

Whim

I bought this audiobook on a whim; I hadn’t heard of the author, and wasn’t sure of the genre. This impulse buy definitely paid off. The story is well-written and fun, the characters are well-rounded, and the narration is excellent.
I’m choosing to ignore the massive cliche of a character who has no time for anything then miraculously manages to find the time. Isn’t it amazing that work suddenly stops taking over.....lol

Excellent!

I can wholeheartedly recommend Book 1 of the peas and carrots series, a bittersweet tale that will have you laughing, cringing, feeling great dislike and love and watch life weave its magic tapestry. A bittersweet story with a moral.
Hannah Lynn is a new author for me and I loved the way she wrote, she had me entertained throughout.
Along with Race Beckley, a new narrators voice to me, the characterisation was colourful and clear! no wondering who was who with his great voices.

Loved it, recommend it and look forward to seeing where Book 2 goes .. especially with Book 1 being such a hard act to follow.

Fabulous story and narrator

Loved it! Couldn’t resist the title, and very glad about it. I’ve read another book by the author but this was the first audio. Great narrator.
