About this listen

'So much fun!' Lilly Wachowski

'Horrifying and delightful' Kristen Arnett

Renee has made it: she's in the final four.

But is she dying to win?

Renee should be thrilled to have been chosen as one of the final four contestants in The Catch, the world's biggest reality show. But now she, the other contestants, and Jeremy 'the Catch' have arrived on the remote, wooded island for the final show, Renee begins to wonder if there's something wrong. Is she taking a bigger risk than she realised?

And as she and the other contestants begin their final challenges, they slowly start to realise that the island they've been taken to is hiding a terrifying secret - one that could make the final Elimination Event all too real.

Critic reviews

"Each character is voiced by a narrator who pulls the humanity from even the most outwardly vapid of them in this social satire and raucous lesbian horror tale." (Booklist)

"Five fantastic narrators expertly handle the multiple points of view in this delightfully odd ensemble story…" (AudioFile)

This was wild !!

Where to begin. This was a wild romp that was gutsy and gory, and the right mix of horror and comedy. I was just blown away by how the story goes, so many twists and turns. This kinda reminded me of AHS Roanoke but in a great way (underrated season in my opinion), and Im here for a reality tv show falling apart due to unforseeen darkness in the woods.

Fun Story

A fun and campy take on a classic myth. I enjoyed this book a lot.

Hell yeah

I sped through this. It was good horror and suspense and well as being campy, entertaining and everything I love about queer horror.

A bit odd!

Not sure if the first part of this book was needed tbh. Spent ALOT of time with pre-amble that the end just appeared out of nowhere. It was entertaining but not something I would recommend to someone wanting a thoughtful and creative narrative.

Remarkably disappointing

The premise is great but the execution is lacking. Some of the narrators are also very annoying (probably intentionally but hey). It’s fun tho.
