About this listen

After a fierce storm, a boy discovers a human skull, buried beneath the roots of an ancient tree. A skull with a legendary story…

Vivid re-imagining of the legendary hero Robin Hood by thebestselling author of War Horse.

“Tell the sheriff, tell Sir Guy of Gisbourne, tell everyone in Nottingham, that the Outlaws rule here in Sherwood, that we rule in the king’s name… I am Robin Hood.”

Homeless and lost in a dark, strange forest, young Robin is rescued by a motley crew of misfits. He yearns to avenge his father and seek justice against cruel oppressors, to finally defeat the Sheriff of Nottingham, once and for all.

And through his friends, Robin Hood finds the courage to become a legendary hero.

Outlaw

Would you listen to Outlaw again? Why?

I've already listened to it many times.

What did you like best about this story?

It portrays the struggle Robin Hood and his followers engaged in to make their world a better place.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrator could have used more expression.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Outlaw

Any additional comments?

The author could have fleshed out the characters more, and he does more telling than showing, but Outlaw is a moving story, and one that will stay with the reader.

Outlaw review by a 10 year old

I loved the plot of the story as it was more specific than the legend I heard. However I do think that the voice acting could be improved.
I'd recommend it to ages seven and up as it is really interesting but it can be rather dark at times. One last thing- Michael Morpurgo is an excellent author and I would recommend his books to anyone
