Summary

The dreadful secret that Torak carries with him at the close of Soul Eater is revealed, and he is cast out from the clans.

It's his 14th summer. He's alone, cut off even from Wolf and Renn. Hunted and on the run, he takes refuge in unknown territory: the haunted reedbeds of Lake Axehead, where he is menaced by the Hidden People.

Other threats lurk nearby, and his battle with the Soul-Eaters is far from over.

As he fights for his life, Torak uncovers a deception too awful to contemplate, one that shakes him to the core and shatters his world.

Another great story.

I just love how these characters are starting to grow up together. The dynamics and the strain of different relationships start to unfold a new story given a proper insight to the Times and the hearts of each charachter.

Again I highly recommend this. I just kept thinking while reading that how this would make a great trilogy of a movie :)

Excellent

An excellent companion. Beautifully conceived and written. The story seems to grow organically and effortlessly. The character development is sensitive, subtle and strong. Ian McKellan's narration is first rate. Thank you, Michelle, for another thoroughly engaging read.

The Best In The Seires So Far

As always Outcast is a compelling and engaging story. The narrator, Ian McKellen, does a superb job of reading the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness, and Outcast is no exception. Can not wait to listen to the next book, Oath Breaker, next month. Thank you Michelle Paver.

Outcast

This is book 4 in the series and my personal favourite. In this book, Torak is cast out from the clans and cut off from his friends, and meanwhile his enemies are closing in. This book sees Torak at his most vulnerable and is an extremely powerful and moving story. It also reintroduces Bail, a character who first appeared in Spirit Walker. Together, he and Ren must save Torak from his enemies and more importantly from himself.

Great Book

Really enjoyed this book, had read it as a child but the narration by Ian McKellen was fantastic, he does the voices incredibly well and brings the book to life. The plot is good, it's just one of those books you can listen to anywhere, anytime and still enjoy it. Really recommend it.

Unpredictable and compelling

Unlike the last book, Soul Eater which I didn’t really like, this one had a very rich story and imaginable atmosphere, unpredictable plot and surprises and I enjoyed it very much. McKellen’s performance is really outstanding which adds more character to the story.
