Summary

A sparkling story about what happens when you let someone into your life...but they turn out to want more than you'd bargained for!

Sarah Dee has the perfect life. A high-flying job in a law firm, a beautiful daughter and a house to die for. So how does she find herself looking in through the kitchen window while another woman enjoys it all?

When Sarah takes pity on a struggling young graduate who can't get a job, she thinks she's doing the right thing. She's being kind, generous and helpful to others, as she always is. But as Sarah allows the younger woman into her home, her law firm and even her family, is there more to this pretty youngster than meets the eye? And could this be a good deed that goes further than expected?

Claudia Carroll does it again with a sparkling new novel about what happens when your life becomes up for grabs....

Critic reviews

Praise for Claudia Carroll: "Claudia Carroll is a master of creating a great story.... A brilliantly readable, funny novel. Highly recommended." ( Fabulous)
"An emotional rollercoaster...asks some probing questions about relationships and keeps the reader wondering until the very end." ( Irish Independent)
"I've just spent a gloriously sunny weekend delving into Tess Taylor and Kate King's lives and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm a massive fan of Claudia and her books and this one certainly didn't disappoint. It was modern, warm, insightful and filled with characters that felt like friends at the end." (Emma Hannigan)

Loved this!

I really enjoyed this book. It’s very well written, with a clever story, richly drawn characters and excellent narration. Highly recommend.

Mediocre

An interesting story spoilt by the overuse of several words .., “ excuse me “ Was said too often by two separate people .
Beyond was another one , everyone was ‘beyond ‘ something ... . Once I noticed it , it spoilt my listening as I was listening out for it .
Hearts were thumping out of chests all the time so yeh ...
“ spoiler alert “
One part I didn’t like .. No-one would ever have let someone stay a minute longer in their house after doing what she did to her child ..
only 3 stars which are for the story .

Overexplaining to pad things out

Good idea for a story but under developed over explained and too much detail of what people are doing or eating or seeing - irrelevant details. Also characters oversimplified. Villain and victim with no subtlety. I really wish I could find some intelligent fiction that is fun to listen to.

gripping story from start to finish

Really enjoyed this one - the characters were so real - but they changed from goodies to baddies and visa versa taking my sympathies or otherwise along with them. One of the best audio books I have listened to.

Thoroughly enjoyed!!!

Great book, interesting storyline, good narration, however I think the narrator for Darcy's part should have been younger seeing as Darcy was only 16. Didnt spoil it though.
Loved the character Liz. Even though she wasn't the main character, she was my favourite.
Great book, I've enjoyed all of Claudia Carroll's books, especially the Primrose Square ones. I hope he writes more of those.
Recommended!!!

not bad

it starts better than it finishes. Too much time spent on minute detail and lots of expressions repeated over and over. bit of a nonentity ending and quite predictable
