Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Three brothers are at the funeral. One lies in the coffin.

Will, Brian and Luke grow up competing for their mother's love, but she is unable and unwilling to love all of them.

As adults, the competition continues. One brother always has what another one wants - status, money, success, a woman, the love of a child, his mother's attention.

But maybe there's a chance to even things up. Perhaps with one brother gone there would be more to go around.

Which will it be?

Different, but really good

This book wasn’t what I was expecting. It tells the story of three brothers and their intermingles lives through each of their voices. Not a lot appears to happen in it until you realise how they have all affected and destroyed each other. Really well told and excellent narration throughout.

Another stunning listen

Twists turns and utter nastiness in the Drum family. Completely brilliant. And hateful.
Narrators were supreme - all of them

Its a Family Drama

So dont expect a crime mystery (as stated) - but do be prepared for Liz Nugent at her best!
I wasn't sure what to expect (as very different to her other books) but the story is so unique and engaging, and the writing so beautiful that you cannot but listen to the very end. Excellent narration and 5 stars all round!

Another excellent book from Liz Nugent

I am becoming quite a fan of Liz Nugent. Another great story told from differing points of view. All well supported by the performances of the narrators. The complexities of family relationships with their secrets and jealousies are told in flashbacks to childhood and the conclusion becomes inevitable - but only in hindsight! Highly recommend especially if you enjoy family narratives.
