Another amazing emotional book by LA!
On The Rebound by L.A. Cotton
Audiobook version with Rachel Woods and Liam DiCosimo
This is another amazing audiobook by L.A. Cotton. Every single time she gets me crying. This YA sports romance had it all. Enemies to lovers, second chance and sports romance all rolled into one!
Calliope(Calli) James is our herione and she come to Steinbeck U to honour her Mother’s dying wish for Calli to follow her dreams. She’s one tough cookie as she leaves her small town to fulfill her Mom’s wishes. And she goes to the one University that has her brother in attendance. A brother who has turned his back on her, her whole life but she still goes with hope in her heart they can mend their familia relationship. After all it would be what her Mom would want.
Zachary Messiah is the one who used to be Cali’s everything before he wasn’t.
Neither had any clue they were both at the same university. Zachary being pressured to fill in his brother’s shoes on the basketball team. He came to Steinbeck to get his father off his back and left another university team in doing so. His brother who is in a coma and he’s placed on a team that’s struggling with the loss of their key player. Zachary has a lot to be responsible for now and he now has to deal with the one girl who stole his heart and then destroy it.
Let me just say here, if you are new to L.A.‘s books she isn’t afraid to tackle subjects that involve serious issues like losing loved ones, and deals with all of the emotions that comes with situations like this. Hence my tears. I really thought I wouldn’t cry this time but... I sure did. But another thing the author does is pulling us back into the story and showing us that love can really change things for the better in the future. All it takes is the ability to not give up, to listen with an open heart and ❤️ love.
These two narrators were new to me. Both were so well placed as these characters and really helped pull all of the emotions that each go through in the story. It’s told as dual point of view so we get to feel every emotional situation as they go through it. There’s angst, heart wrenching loss, love and forgiveness and finding connections with people who become as important as family members in helping us heal. Such an amazing audiobook.

Sweet Pea and Zach
If you love enemies to lovers romance, this book if for you! A fantastic high school to college romance, we meet Calliope and Zach. Best friends to lovers in high school until something comes between them. Now the two are at odds, and find themselves once again thrown together when they get to college. But it's not an easy path. There is more than just the two of them trying to find their way. Dire circumstances in each of their lives have led them down paths of despair, and the fuel from their anger at each other is just icing on the cake. Will they find their way back to each other? LA Cotton is a master at the new adult genre, and creates that world I can look back into. Complex characters, with real life problems, dealing with death, decisions, estrangement, expectations and just finding their way in a time of life that should be fun. Both Callie and Zach are amazing characters, but I also loved the secondary characters too. Callum, Callie's brother has his own problems, the wicked Vicky is constantly a thorn, and I loved Xavier the bartender! Each adding a layer to the story and giving us that feel of realism. It's a great story and one you certainly do not want to miss!
Liam DiCosimo and Rachel Woods deliver a fantastic performance. Dual narration, we get to feel each of their emotional journeys through their voice. The inflections from both let us hear growth in their characters, from their high school flashbacks to their current situations. It's a great portrayal of the story and I enjoyed it.

Second Chance Romance
I really enjoyed this book. A college second chance romance with quite a bit of back and forth. I liked the main characters. This is a long book but it kept my attention the entire time. I loved the HEA. The narration was great. I definitely recommend this book. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession

NOW THIS IS A SERIES I COULD GETA ADDICTED TO
Now this is a series I could get addicted to
I enjoy a college romance every now and again, so throw in some sports and a second chance romance and this book ticked all my boxes.
A best friends to teen romance that went wrong. Calli doesn't know why Zach betrayed her when she was at high school but what she does know is that he broke her heart. Years later they are reunited when they find themselves at the same college and Zach is the star basketball player, the one sport she hates because it also took her brother away from her.
I enjoyed it and I listened to the audio version. I loved it! The narrators were fantastic and really brought the characters to life.
Told in dual pov and leads to a hea.
Looking forward to the next book in the series and can see myself getting addicted to this, I cant wait for more.

Young love and loss.
Young love can be wonderful, but also tormenting. For Calli and Zach love and the future are intimately entangled with tragedy and loss, bringing complications which colour their lives. Both have experienced rejection from pivotal people in their lives and, in Zach's case, his insecurity brings and extra layer of self doubt.
This is a good read, infused with emotions. I wanted to smack Zach at times, but wanted Calli to stay strong. Woven into the story is the theme of potential, rejection, but most of all, love and hope. It was also great to spend time with Maverick! Bonus!
The audio was so well performed. Lian DiCosimo and Rachel Woods were both excey and brought all the characters and the events of the book to life beautifully. 💖💖💖💖

One of my Faves 😍😍😍😍
The narrators were perfect, they did the book justice.
Zack and Callis story was everything and more- loss, sorrow, anger, betrayal, longing, love... i could keep going.
I love when a book can make you feel and i really felt Callis grief... whatever she felt i did too.
So much potential for future books with other characters-
1. josie- is her and brad completely done? Will Joel find out?
2. Jasmine- loved how Zach took her in his wing *sigh*) does she go pro?
And finally Zachery Messiah, - damnnnn.. 🔥
Not gunna lie he was an arse but the more he began opening up the more i fell...
Zach couldnt stay away from Calli even when he tried they still graviated to eachother...
Brilliant Audio, I loved it 🖤

A good sports/new adult/college story
It wasn’t what I expected, and I liked it. I thought it would be extremely focused on the enemies to lovers romance, but in the end, it was mostly about Callie and Zach’s families and college’s power dynamics. A sports/new adult/college story with all the tension and drama that come with it.
Though I didn’t always understand the characters’ motivations–some of their actions and decisions were a bit confusing–they had a defined character arc that wasn’t only about their love life. They had a real journey to accomplish, forgiveness to bestow, things to learn and unlearn, before they could even imagine a happily ever after. That aspect was quite compelling.
I was unimpressed with the side characters. They all look like villains with no redeeming quality–except the rare good friends of Callie and Zach. If they had any chance to be an ass to either of the main character, rest assured that they did. That made up for a lot of the drama in the story, so I won’t complain.
You won’t get bored with this book! Every time the sun shines, rain soon follows. Though it could be a bit too much at times, at least there weren’t empty drama. Each time the characters take a blow, they grow up a little, change a little–get closer to their happy ending.
As for the narration, I wasn’t a fan of the male narrator female voices, but the emotions were there. The female narrator did a great job. For such a long book, I was never bored and they kept me entertained until the end.

Incredibly angsty
After reading Trick Or Treat, I knew whatever came next for Cali and Zach would be angsty as heck. And Ms. Cotton did not disappoint. she brought the angst as well as the longing, the sprinkling of darkness I've come to associate with a book by this author and some heart too. There's a lot going on here in what I truly hope is the start of a new series, but needless to say this is lovers-enemies back to lovers done so stinking well you can't help but be sucked in. Not only by the drama surrounding Callie and Zach but all the side characters pile on too. I want to know more and this is really making me want to pick up her Wicked Bay series.

It was ok.
I felt it was drawn out a lot, and a little repetitive in places.
The male narrator was good, but I wasn’t all that fussed with his female voice. It sounded like when a man is making fun of a woman’s voice.
