Summary
Fifty-three-year-old Patricia Fisher is a trouble magnet like no other, a sad fact she has come to accept during her three-month around the world cruise. Wherever she goes, bodies just appear, or someone gets kidnapped, or she accidentally uncovers a plot to overthrow a government.
Life certainly isn’t dull for Patricia.
But when she arrives home in England, she plans to start a new chapter of her life. Of course, she has a case waiting for her: the murder of her former BFF, successful business owner Maggie Jeffries. It's not the straightforward investigation she expected though. Maggie's office manager has vanished, anomalous sums are missing from the business accounts, and there's a mysterious giant following her.
Could her past cases be coming back to get revenge?
With a potential gangland connection to the murder, cops telling her to leave the case alone, and her dog, Anna, about to give birth to royal puppies, Patricia is in for one heck of a homecoming week.
Oh, and she has nowhere to live, her car is on the fritz, her soon-to-be ex-husband is lying to her, and someone definitely wants her dead.
She's going to need a lot of gin and tonic to get through this case alive.

Like the series but….
I have enjoyed all the books in the series, and have to agree that the constant change of narrator’s is annoying, but not as annoying as this one. How did the final edit of this got passed,? I swear they were drunk and slurring their words in the post office chapter.

What dreams are made of!
Looks like Patricia has to sort some things out and fast! It's going to be tough going to adapt to a life on land after more than 3 months at sea. As she moves to get her life in order someone makes an attempt on her life...more than once! This story has many twists and turns and keeps you wondering who the heck is after Patricia now. Great read! Loved the ending! Excellent narration!

Great story.
I've listened and read a few of these books and others by Steve Higgs. I absolutely love the stories. They're fast paced and keep you guessing. In this book Patricia Fisher has left the Auralia cruise ship with her heavily pregnant dashund Anna. She decides to start her own investigation agency. Her cheating husband Charlie hires her to find out who murdered his mistress Maggie who was also Patricia's friend until she slept with Charlie. But Maggie was involved with some shady people and Patricia's life is on the line. Great story but the narrator let it down. Doxhund is how she pronounces dashund and Quay isn't said as it looks its pronounced key. I know silly English language but feel the narration could have been better. But still enjoyable. I received a free copy of this book from the author but the review is my own opinion.

Love this series
I love the Patricia Fisher mysteries but I so wish they would use the same narrator. This narrator is so fast compared to lots of the others.
The books are wonderful - the change in narrators not good.

Truly dreadful narration
The Patricia Fisher mysteries are a fun series of books, completely daft. They are spoilt by variable narration. The first book is the best from a narrative perspective as she gets across the slapstick elements well. The narrator of this book is not English and her accent wanders around the globe in one sentence. she also sounds drunk slurring her words together.
You get used to mis-pronunciation of words from narrators and this one is no better. Why don't the editors correct them? The word quay is pronounced 'key' and not 'kway'. in a book about a cruise it crops up a lot.
In the end it is the drunken slurring which are spoiling the book for me and I'm not sure I will get to the end.
