About this listen
Little Jamey, 2½ years old, is placed with experienced foster carer, Cathy Glass, as an emergency.
The police and social services have no choice but to remove two-year-old Jamey from home after his mother leaves him alone all night to go out partying.
When he first arrives with foster carer Cathy Glass, he is scared, hungry and withdrawn, craving the affection he has been denied for so long. He is small for his age and unsteady on his feet – a result of being left for long periods in his cot.
Cathy and her family find Jamey very easy to love, but as he settles in and makes progress, a new threat emerges. Coronavirus and lockdown change everything.

Not the best book of Cathy’s
To much talk on Covid explaining what had happened as though no one else had lived it. We all know this and all went through the same. I think that filled most of the book, saying about the news every night and explaining about Covid. So I’m hoping that one was the only one. I’ve almost read them all. As she is great and her stories are eye opening.

There is something special about this one
As usual, no one writes these kinds of books better than Cathy Glass. Her genuine love for the children she fosters shines through. This one is different and in some ways even better than usual, since it talks about life in the pandemic which is something we can all relate to. Also, Jamie is such a lovable child, and I genuinely want to know how he gets on. Thank you, Cathy, for another treasure. The reading, as usual, is absolutely brilliant and I cannot imagine anyone else reading Kathy‘s books.

My first ever Cathy Glass book
What a beautiful, narrated story of the sad but beautiful life of Jamey. I listened to each chapter as if I was actually there with both Cathy and Jamey, so much to go through as well as the pandemic. I really hope his life with his aunt Lacy will be as rewarding as it was while he was being cared for by Cathy.
