Summary

At the intersection of love and ambition, one man must face his fears and reevaluate what it means to be human.

Faced with global warming, a man-made plague, and aliens determined to keep humans from expanding beyond the solar system, two men take opposing paths.

Astrophysicist Daniel Walker is determined to finish his deceased parents' mission to find a world suitable for human colonization and pursues that goal with a single-minded ambition.

Cadmon Dhyre fought his way out of a plague camp to become a renowned nanotechnologist yet remains a social pariah. Embittered, Cadmon will do whatever it takes to cure the disfiguring disease threatening his life, even if it costs him his humanity.

When the paths of these men cross, the future of mankind hangs in the balance.

Good book, kept me listening.

This was a good book, interesting storyline, and well paced. I will listen to another from this author.
The narrator was good, but I kept getting a tinny sound. But that was only a small distraction. Well worth a listen.

Great listen

Great book kept my interest from start to end. Don’t know whether there will be a sequel but I do hope so.

Super Listen! Realstic refreshing Sci Fi

I would say that I am veracious reader and listener and get through a few books/ Audio books a week. I have eclectic tastes which range from Jeffrey Archer to Stephen King, my main genres are Fantasy and Sci-fi.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Performance: I would of scored t his a 5 as the narrator was solid and it was a joy to listen to the only reason I didn’t and some may think it is petty but at around the 15 minute mark the audio changes distinctly almost like there is a change of kit being used. I thought it may of just been my download but double checked it on my PC.

So onto the actual book and what a little belter it is. The story grabbed me immediately and I got through it in 2 days which is super-fast for me for a 16 hour + book on normal speed. This is a well thought out Science Fiction book which pairs futuristic technology and advancements with relatable world issues making identifying with the characters and the story arcs very easy.

The book touches on lots of themes that are very relevant in our world today some of which have been done to death but they all felt fresh and not forced when reading, I especially liked how sexual exploitation was portrait in the book it was done in a way which made me cringe but was not crude.

I was satisfied by the end and it didn’t detract from the book but there were still lots of unanswered questions which I would love to get some answers from in a follow up book.

I’m not a fan of sex scenes within books, there were a few in this book but they were not over the top.

If your looking for a character driven science fiction book which brings spades of realism this is one you wont want to pass this one up.
