Story
Billy Connolly may be a citizen of the world, but in his heart he's never been far from his homeland. Made in Scotland is Billy's unique and intimate portrait of his native Scotland, a love letter to the places and people that made him. It's an adventure inspired by a single incident: the moment Billy received his Knighthood and was asked, 'How does it feel to have achieved all this when you came from nothing?' His response was, 'But I did come from something!'

Story
An endearing stand-alone story from best-selling author Alexander McCall Smith. Val was working as a land girl when the Americans arrived at the nearby airfield in 1944. Mike, a young American airman, came into her life soon after, and so, too, did Peter Woodhouse, a dog badly treated on a neighbouring farm and taken in by her aunt. Little persuasion was needed for Mike to take Peter Woodhouse to the airbase, and over time he became the mascot of the American squad.

One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Disappointing
Kids loved the movie and I thought that the script had then been re-worked into a proper narrative story. But we started listening and it is more about the movie, how it was made etc. Not a true audio book at all.

Very Enjoyable
I bought this to listen with my children but listened alone first.
I love Emma Thompson and I really enjoyed this audiobook, which is a mix between the story and what happens on set, which my family will find very interesting. The story stops after the parts which might be a bit emotionally difficult, which will help my children and Emma Thompson balances humour and emotional depth very sensitivily. I will be listening again with my children.

Delightful children’s story for adults too!
Emma Thomson follows successfully in her father’s ( Magic Roundabout) footsteps , with this delightful children’s story, that adults will also enjoy, with the characters’ vivid dialogue and authentic voices. She intersperses the story with her diary of making the film, which is almost as hilarious as the story itself. Altogether a joy!

Story+Film Diary+Emma Thompson=Joy
I've listened to this audiobook perhaps four times over the last several years, and it delights me every time. I wish Emma Thompson would narrate more books, preferably including a full memoir of her own. Her voice is beautiful, her delivery delicious. And she is remarkably insightful and emotionally wise. This book alternates between being a diary of the experience of filming Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, and a reading of Nanny McPhee Returns. Her character expression in the story is fabulous, and the story itself is both funny and uplifting. What I enjoy even more is the education she gives us about the technical aspects of filmmaking, and the physical and emotional effort it requires of everyone involved. Her understanding and love of human nature make the whole thing a fascinating and joyful listen.

Thompson is a great actress, but as narrator she exceeds expectations! As for the book in general, I don't know which I enjoyed more; the story or the diary. Both were wonderful.

Nanny McPhee - Great listening - so much fun
Really enjoyed listening to this story - it was short and very easy to follow - great for early gym sessions. It was a mix from the 1st and 2nd movies and I especailly enjoyed the "off-screen" narration of Emma Thompson - I looked forward to all her commentary just as much as the story. I loved the "up-beat" feel of Emma's narration - she kept me wanting to listen (and work out!)
