Summary

The gruesome death of Mrs McGinty provokes Superintendent Spence to seek the help of his old ally Hercule Poirot.

The victim’s young lodger has been found guilty and is due to hang. But Spence is not convinced by the circumstantial evidence which influenced the verdict. So, at considerable personal discomfort, Poirot goes down to the sleepy village where the old lady lived and where, by chance, his good friend Ariadne Oliver is also staying.

There he alights upon his first and most crucial clue - a newspaper article on the present whereabouts of women implicated in notorious murder cases. Did Mrs McGinty have to die because she had identified one of her neighbours as a brutal killer? Is that killer still at large, and can Poirot and Ariadne act swiftly enough to save an innocent man from the gallows?

Agatha Christie’s intriguing mystery is dramatised with a full cast including Julia McKenzie and George Baker.

John Moffatt stars as Hercule Poirot.

Wonderful listening

John Moffatt plays the perfect Poirot. Only wish these adaptations could last longer. So classy and authentic when compared to the latest Audible’s Poirot.

I thoroughly enjoyed this dramatisation of Agatha Christie's famous book and will listen to it again. I was particularly impressed with the actors chosen to do the roles as they brought the characters to life. Great Stuff !!

Intriguing, fun and a classic Poirot

Would you consider the audio edition of Mrs McGinty's Dead (Dramatised) to be better than the print version?

I find dramatised audio books much easier to listen to than normal audio books. Especially as I listen to them a lot in the car. The different voices makes it easier to register the different characters and get a better sense of the scenes and intrigue of the story. The actors voices are extremely good.

What other book might you compare Mrs McGinty's Dead (Dramatised) to, and why?

If you've read/ listened to any of Agatha Christie books then you will like this one. It's s classic mystery where Poirot is alone trying to solve a murder before the wrong man goes to hang. A classic 'who done it'.

What about John Moffatt’s performance did you like?

I enjoyed John Moffatts performance this is not the first of his dramatisations that I've listened to and it won't be the last. He plays Poirot very well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! And I did. I stated it on a long drive and did the whole story, I find they're much funner that way.

Any additional comments?

Great drama, love the series and I hope they make all the Poirot books.
