Summary

The latest installment of Audible’s blockbuster addition to the Sherlock Holmes universe, now featuring Dame Helen Mirren in a deliciously villainous performance, with Dominic Monaghan and Phil LaMarr returning to their leading roles.

Professor James Moriarty (Monaghan) is back for a gripping new adventure that finds him joining forces with his bitter rival, Sherlock Holmes (LaMarr). Moriarty tracks down the woman he loves but discovers that she is trapped in the web of a shadowy cabal of evil that’s growing stronger every day. To fight it, Moriarty must face Lady Milverton (Mirren), a ruthless mastermind whose blackmail poisons the highest levels of power. When he learns that his nemesis Sherlock Holmes is also in Milverton’s grip, the two must set their animosity aside to stop an escalating threat of world war.

The all-star cast’s performances, paired with a meticulously crafted sound design, make Moriarty: The Silent Order a truly electrifying audio experience. Come for the heart-pounding thrills, and stay for the biting wit and shocking twists. You’ve been warned: The game is once again afoot.

Enjoyable

This was an enjoyable listen even though the use of American English words/expressions and a few bizarre accents got on one’s nerves.

Great Series

An interesting flip on the Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty stories. Enjoyable twists and turns throughout with first class actors bringing the characters to life.

Weird and disconcerting

The plot is oddly intriguing, turning the character roles on their heads, but the accents are very peculiar. I can't work out where Holmes is from but he's certainly not English with those mangled vowels. Most of the rest of the cast have equally peculiar accents that make it sounds like a Disney production. Weird.

Great, but not as good as the first

I didn’t enjoy this story as much as the first one. It is still a great book to listen to. Highly recommended if you liked the first story.

A new perspective on Sherlock Holmes, brilliant representations

Likely the best dramatisation I have heard. The story is gripping with its twists and turns, the actors representations fantastic, with great diction, and audio effects adding more to the charm. Can’t wait for a new dramatisation to be released.

Good but…

I enjoyed the sequel to the original but it wasn’t as good. I’ve never really liked anything Helen Mirren has appeared in but was pleasantly surprised by her contribution. The character of Moriarty was very well played as was Agatha. I’m afraid though that Holmes was weak. His voice sounded false, incessantly nasal and just lacked depth. Then there was the opera singer who I swear was previously advertising insurance as a meerkat!
I do hope though that there will be a new series. It will be good to see how Holmes’ basic betrayal is played out further and if Moriarty can redeem his sullied reputation.
