Summary
Quaid Andrew Valor and Aslan Ronan Doyle cordially invite you to be an honorary guest as they join their lives in matrimony. The ceremony is set to take place at Strongwind Castle on December 23rd. Save the date!
Time is short. Quaid has less than three months to plan the wedding of his dreams. A wedding that happens to land two days before Christmas. Don’t be fooled. It is not a Christmas wedding—at least not if Quaid has anything to say about it.
The wedding binder is fat and the list of things that need to be done is long, so when the department decides to implement a mandatory team-building Secret Santa event that will take up every one of Quaid’s available Saturdays, he is livid. There is no time for nonsense on his tight schedule.
When Aslan sees what the stress is doing to his fiancé, he calls in the cavalry to help plan the wedding. What could possibly go wrong with Ruiz and Torin on their side?
Relationships grow deeper. Friends and family come together to celebrate. And Quaid and Aslan finally tie the knot.
**Matrimonial Merriment is the seventh book in the Valor and Doyle series. Unlike the other books, this one does not contain a mystery and is wholly focused on our two favorite detectives finally getting married. It was meant as a bonus book but somehow came in at over 100k words. Oops. More of them to love.**

You are cordially invited..,,,,,
With his OCD tendencies and the need to always be in control Quaid was without doubt going to be overwhelmed with planning the wedding of his dreams in such a limited time frame. He’s also hindered by the inability to articulate exactly what he wants due to his self conscious nature. Thankfully Aslan is by his side and is never shy in saying what’s needed. He also ropes in Torin, Ruiz and other family members to jump in and take over some tasks when Quaid’s frenzied attempts to do everything lead to a stress related episode. I definitely had some feels when Quaid finally got to experience his perfect dream wedding, especially when it came time for the vows, but also included some heartwarming and delightfully jaw dropping moments arranged by the team.
Torin and Ruiz’s roles as best men show the depth of the friendships they have with the grooms. This leads to some laugh out loud moments balanced with some very deep and meaningful conversations as they all embark on the next stage of their life journeys.
I adored all aspects of this wonderfully engaging listen and Nick J Russo once again showed his depth of performance, connection with the characters and unmatched story telling ability.

Perfection! Absolute perfection!
Story: Be still my fragile heart! Even when I think I know what to expect, Nicky James always takes me by surprise.
After the thriling and suspenseful journey of previous books in the series, this one changes the tone quite bit. While I might have missed the thrill of an unraveling criminal story, it does not take away from the delicious treat we’re being served here.
With wedding preparations underway we get a new angle glance into Quaid’s and Aslan’s relationship and I don’t have the words to express how amazing it is! The depth of insight we get into their emotions and the craft with which it is all portrayed is truly uncanny!
Not only do we get to know the MCs on a whole new level, but the secondary characters get their own spotlights and are showcased in new roles, with much more emotional depth to them, making the whole story even more gripping.
While I am sad to see the series conclude, Matrimonial Merriment is a great finishing touch on what was a really fun and emotional adventure. I cackled with glee at Quaid’s Groomzilla moments, I chuckled at all the antics, I sighed and swooned, and wept in all the right places, which means the book is truly a job beautifully done.
I hope we get some glimpses into their wedded bliss in shorts or maybe a novella here and there (hint hint Nicky, in case you’re reading this!), there is a promise of a spin-off with another intriguing character, which I’m really looking forward to. And it will surely include cameos from the Quaid and Valor bunch, so even more fun!
Narration: Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, Nick J. Russo once again elevated the story to a whole new level! There's plenty of feels in this book and they all rang true and genuine in his performance.

Poor Quaid is overwhelmed with all the planing but with the help of Aslan, Torin and Ruiz they fulfill Quaid’s dream wedding, this was magical really, I love that we get to experience their day with them and finally walk the aisle and say I do!! *sigh* I love that we continue to enjoy Nick J Russo narrating this books, excellent performance!

A wedding planning frenzy with Quaid and Aslan
This chapter of Quaid and Aslan's adventure may not have contained a puzzling MPU case or suspenseful homicide, but it was no less entertaining, heartfelt, and captivating to see the two of them make their way towards the wedding of their dreams. Everything I've always loved about Aslan and Quaid was front and center in this book, and it brought me so much joy to experience all the ups and downs of their wedding planning frenzy. Quaid was absolutely in groom-zilla panic mode, stressing endlessly about his massive to-do list and driving everyone up the wall with his extremely specific requests. I never expected anything else from him, so it was more amusing to me than anything, and Aslan did his darndest to get him to relax and relinquish some control. It was really sweet to see the way Quaid and Aslan's friends and family teamed up to stop Quaid from actually having a stress-induced meltdown, and because of that I got to see more of Torin and Ruiz than I ever have before. The four of them were a riot once they got going, witty banter and silliness on full display, and I absolutely loved seeing a lighter side to their friendship dynamic. Ruiz in particular had an unexpectedly impactful side-storyline, and I'm excited about the direction it's headed in the spinoff series. It makes me so sentimental to think about how much all of them have been through together, and in this book it felt like they were all taking steps towards the next chapters of their lives. Little by little, Quaid and Aslan got their wedding list checked off, and my heart melted every time I got to see Quaid's joy and wonder at finding exactly what he'd been looking for. I definitely had a goofy smile on my face for pretty much the entire second half of the book, and once the wedding actually started I was a goner. Quaid and Aslan's love has been strong for quite a while, but nothing has come close to the way they made me feel on their wedding day. I'm not ashamed to admit I teared up more than once, and the whole event was such a positive, happy occasion--the perfect way to send these men off into the next stage of their lives together.

Very heartfelt, so emotional!
I feel like I've just watched 2 of my favourite people get married and I cried tears of joy. What a beautiful and special ceremony for 2 memorable characters.
There is much humour (Aslan), even more stress (Quaid) and unexpected greatness (Torin and Costa) throughout this whole story of wedding arrangements. Nicky James did not just write any wedding special, no, she gave us so much love of friends and family and 2 people who have found their soulmates.... then Nick J Russo took this story and elevated it with his emotive voice, such a fabulous story.
I'd like to add that the cake tasting date and the meeting with old man Barnabus left me in tears of laughter, I loved it all.

Beyond emotional
I don’t even know where to begin on this review. I’m so under
qualified to write this. This story is so above any romance I’ve
listened to for a long time.
Quaid and Aslan have had a bumpy road to getting here but this
event sure brings together who they are. Quaid is his normal
quirky personality. Aslan is so together I had to wonder just
who he really was. This brings together all the frustrations of
putting together a wedding and these two had to make it worse
by the short timeframe they decided on. Bringing together
family and friends and all the fun issues that surround a wedding
made this such an emotional story. I cannot express how much I
loved all the laughs and tears I enjoyed while reading it. I also
was glad that the author hinted about children in the future. I’m
hoping that will happen soon. No one can do narration like Nick.
This highlights his talent for bringing out every emotion in a story
