A dazzling 'tell-most' memoir: poignant and laugh-out-loud funny scenes from the life of actor Minnie Driver.

I love stories. I have mostly told other people's but now, in telling my own, I realize how all our stories are connected by that great leveller of acclaim, loss, fortitude, and fortune: being human.

When I look at my life from the alleged halfway point, some patterns are revealed: one, that the story does not necessarily begin or end where it should; two, happy endings are overrated. And three, happy endings are almost never the end.

This book is memoir-ish. A tell-most. Largely because there's a lot I don't remember, and a lot that's not worth talking about.

So, this is a collection of stories about how things not working out - worked out in the end. How reaching for the dream is easily more interesting, expansive, sad and funny than the dream itself coming true.

I really hope you enjoy it.

Love, Minnie x

Whilst this would have been a very good book to read, hearing it through Minnie's own voice gave it so much more. Moving, funny, fascinating. The mother daughter relationship was poignant and honest.

I listened to this book when my dad died. There were so many aspects of Minnie's essays that I identified with. It is beautifully written, pointient and thought provoking. I felt comforted by the gentle narration and was impressed by the digity she showed in describing some of her most difficult times. Wonderful.

This spoke to
Me because I lost
My mother in 2019 and it was very similar to everything I felt - and as well the reference to how birth and death are aligned snd very close . Something most people seem to dismiss but for me I understood death as my children were born . I found it funny touching snd honest . I am stunned that her father sent her off alone to England at 11 she writes about it so vividly . A powerful Read

Beautiful, intelligent, witty yet wonderfully touching book. Heartbreaking at times but told with a smile. Highly recommend it - particularly the audiobook version.
