Sir Patrick Stewart speaks of his life.

This was a charming book. Although overwhelmingly known for t.v. & movie roles, Sir Patrick comes across with deep affection for the theatre. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone with the mildest interest Sir Patrick Stewart’s long career.

Beautiful autobiography

I have always loved Star Trek TNG but what I loved about it most was Patrick’s character and acting and then seeing and hearing him in comedies thereafter such as Extras and American Dad, gave a different perspective on Sir Patrick, enough so that I wanted to listen to his autobiography and learn more about his upbringing, his life and his work in theatre. This autobiography didn’t disappoint. It was written beautifully and read of course as you’d expect, perfectly. It’s poignant, informing, interesting, engaging, absorbing. It is simply one for the best audiobook autobiographies I have listened to and will listen again. Well done and thank you Sir Patrick for sharing for story with us.

An actor’s craft

I’ve enjoyed this book immensely. As an amateur actor it was fascinating to learn how Stewart developed his acting skills. If only the investment in the arts that he benefited from was still in existence, and he acknowledges this. Also reassuring to hear of his insecurities - it helps to normalise those fears we all feel. Beautiful and sensitive writing and reading. I teared up several times. Thoroughly recommend this book.

A great life

Star Trek brought me to admire Sir Patrick Stewart. His character in Star Trek has always given me a sense of comfort. a great leader who listens, supports and is decisive. This is an excellent story of how a man from Yorkshire dared to keep trying, find his passion , took his chances to become a wonderful actor and person on both stage and screen. I really enjoyed his story and look forward to the next chapter.

One of the best memoirs I've read/listened to

As a Star Trek/Marvel fan and a fan of Sir Patrick in general this has been a riverting, emotional at times, funny and overall honest and thought provoking read.

Captivated me

I’m a runner and had this for company on my long runs and having Patrick alongside was wonderful. I laughed out loud and had tears on many occasions. As to be expected he’s a wonderful storyteller and the quality I most admired was one of honesty. I rarely write reviews and so while this isn’t the greatest or longest it says a lot to me about the effect it had. Thank you.

Well worth reading!

A great insight into Patrick’s upbringing and career. Joyful and heartfelt throughout. It was nice to not only read about Patrick’s highs but also his lows and how he handled his relationships and demons that made me see him as human and not just a Hollywood star. Great read!

His star trek years

Loved the story of his life and especially the Star Trek years, would’ve liked more on this especially the hilarious interaction with the cast. “We aren’t here to have fun!” Classic .

Engage

The Authors voice paints visuals from his life eloquently like listening to a friend by the fireside in winter with mulled wine in hand . Bravo
