Summary
Mad Magic is a beautifully dark and rich young adult fantasy from Nicole Conway, best-selling author of the Dragonrider Chronicles.
Josie Barton is a high school student living in terror. Invisible creatures torment her everywhere she goes, constantly getting her into trouble at school, and even haunting her apartment. But just when Josie thinks things couldn't get any worse, she meets the guy from across the hall.
Zeph Clemmont is a changeling with enemies in all the worst places, fighting to undo a curse that threatens to end his life. Survival means he will have to swallow his pride and trust Josie with all his darkest secrets.
With the help of a gunslinging shaman and the enigmatic Prince of Nightmares, Zeph and Josie are only a heartbeat away from defeating one of the most diabolical faerie villains their world has ever known.

Unexpected
Was thinkin this is another relationship teen drama. This story had some teen love stuff, but it fits inside nice story of bias world where friend are not easy to find. Haven't listened other books from the series yet but hopefully thy are as good.

A Fairy belief
Well written and well read, it gives us an insight into the parts of our world where the lines between fact and fiction blur.
I truly believe the author has caught a glimpse of our natural world and some of its deeper secrets wether from the mind or research it doesn’t matter, she wrote it and it was good.

Extremely predictable
this book is exactly what you expect. slightly annoying how slow the main characters realizes what is obvious chapters before, but it's not too bad. An okay choice of you want something where you do not have to think at any point since everything is explained and predictable. just meh

Sharing a brilliant dream..
Loved it from start to finish, came back to reality with a strong feeling of disappointment that it was over and that I wouldn't be doing the adventure with all the wonderful character's anymore. So to the author my thanks for the opportunity to share the dream. .

A bit creepy
The narration wasn't half bad but was annoying when they stoped to explain how they weren't going to narrate like they normally did because there was a surprise reveal. I liked the start then an ancient man starting dateing a school girl who he used to babysit and fell in love with when they were 3. They talk about how creepy it is but do nothing to make it any less creepy and honestly didn't even need to be in the story they could have made them a less bearly legal age gap .

Good enough to keep my interest
I’ll start with the negatives and the proceed to the positives:
Let me start by saying that I find this romance to be very creepy and couldn’t shake the feeling even by the end of the book.
To be completely honest i was also not very fond of the narration and all the accents (especially JF), but of course I understand that it helps to bring the story to life. Personally I believe it would sound better if she used different American accents, but again that’s personal preference.
I find that the story progressed very fast, all the relationships (romantic and friendships) that formed and the feelings, even some events felt very rushed.
Having said all of that though it was good enough to keep my interest, I really liked hearing about fairies (a few well know names thrown in) and imagining the different creatures, it is a YA book after all.
What really kept me is that I really loved all the characters individually regardless of what I think about the plot, and more in particular our main character Jossie. She’s been through so much in her life but throughout the whole book she’s always showing understanding, positivity and kindness.
Such an easy listen even with the creepiness and the cringy accents, give it at least a try!

Who is responsible for producing this????
This review isn’t about the story, or even the narrator, it’s about the insanely unprofessional production. I was actually liking this book, but then, horrifyingly, the narrator broke the fourth wall in chapter 3, drops right out of the narration and says in her regular voice: “hey, so, um, usually I would do text messages in a characters voice, but um, there’s a BIG REVEAL coming up. I’m not even going to tell you yet, so I’m just going to do them in her [the MC’s] neutral voice instead.” Then, she goes back into the story in the MCs voice like nothing happened.
WHAT. THE. HELL. Who produced this?? Who made that direction?? I am astounded at how unprofessional this is. Way to ruin what could have been a decent book.

This was disturbing.
A sad, lonely, orphaned 17 year old (aka minor) girl meets her hot (30 plus a lot of somethings) neighbor when he saves her from a scary monster that's been living in her apartment/closet. Within a couple of days she decides she is in love with him. No, I'm not kidding. Yes, it was as awkward as it sounds. I was constantly cringing. Honestly the age difference was less of a problem for me than the mc's psychological state. She just latched on to the first person to show her the smallest kindness. The creepy and pathetic aspects of this story completely overwhelmed anything good about it. I made it a little over half way through and couldn't stand it anymore. I skipped to the last chapter or two to see how it ended. If the main character had been about to graduate from college instead of high school she still would have been kind of pathetic but at least it would have eliminated the creepy puppy love aspect. I'm very disturbed by how many good reviews this book has.

Off putting narration
The narrator's childish voice coupled with some of the adult content was off putting for me. It might also be that I just don't like listening to glorified borderline pedophilia, but maybe I am sensitive. Either way, it just wasn't for me. Also, while the story had some interesting creative elements, there was very little depth to the character development.

Overall great book, odd recording style
I really enjoyed this book, I thought it was great. It could have been better with more details around the age difference and “heart chord”. Because it really does come off as an adult being a predator on a young virgin sometimes. But it’s a young adult novel, so I guess that is expected? What was truly frustrating was WHY IN THE EARTH DID THE NARRATOR STOP THE STORY TO SPOIL A PART OF THE BOOK! As noted in a previous review, the narrator stopped and broke all the walls to mention that she wouldn’t use a certain voice about reading emails/texts, because it would give away a spoiler. I almost immediately knew who “Ben” was. That was incredibly frustrating. They should have just read it in the Josie characters voice, since she is the one reading the texts in her own mind? A few words were mispronounced as well. If not mispronounced, then said it a super odd way. If it wasn’t for that break in the story, the narration would have been really amazing. But I almost turned off the book after the break. I’m glad I kept listening for the story, it was pretty great.

Enjoyable and clean
I think I enjoyed the whole story except for the blurb put in by the narrator. That did not need to be included… It actually made it Obvious what direction the story was going into. Other than that I was ready for the release the performance was well done and the characters by the end of the story had been nicely developed
