Summary
Known as the Lyon for his prowess on the battle field, Piers de Montgomerie accepts a challenge from King David - squash a troublesome highland rebellion. For his payment, he accepts disputed lands, but soon discovers that what he truly desires is the highland beauty whose brothers will never bow to him.
Meghan Brodie refuses to be a pawn in a political game and vows not be won so easily. She resists the English Lyon...but even as she begins to realize their love is destined to heal an injured land, she cannot dare to hope the Lyon will see beyond physical beauty to love the imperfect lass within.

A bit of a silly story
The story was a bit silly, I didn't really enjoy it. The first book of this series was much much better although both the heroines were quite annoying.
The narration in the dialogue was awful. I had listened to this narrator before and thought he was just as bad that time. I won't be continuing this series because of the narrators.
I will listen to the other series of Tanya Anne Crosby as they are narrated by James Gillies and he's a brilliant narrator.

Lyon's Gift
Quite a good story ,but Spoiled by the appalling narration by Ewan
Mac Rae. He makes the female characters sound so pathetic and the male characters voice even worse it spoiled the whole story .
I'm going back to the kindle version as this Audible has totally put me off listening to any others Narrated by Ewan Mac Rae.

Delicious. . .
Lighthearted. .. simple and gentle.... but what does it matter so long as there's a hunky man and a sexy brogue and a castle!? I do have a singular complaint, a goat is a GOAT and a baby goat is a KID not a lamb. A SHEEP has a lamb. So using either lamb AND goat constantly referring to the same animal is asinine! Huge writing error! Apparently Tanya Anne Crosby has no idea what a goat or a sheep is because they aren't the same thing. How did no one catch this? Fair warning, it's all the same single animal even tho its confusing because it really isn't.
NARRATOR : Sexy male voices.... deliciousness for my ears! The female voices of sexy sounding male narrators are often lacking in any femininity. Here too its true, yet I stopped hearing it as such very quickly! Well done!!!!!
CREDITWORTHY? Yes, providing your looking for Scottish historical HEA romance and not a serious literary revelation. It is what it is and what it's meant to be.
HEAT FACTOR: Soft steam but with a tendency to boil.

Narrator
I love the fact that they had a Scotsman doing the narration for this book as he knew what he was saying and pronounced the word correctly.
I hope he is doing the narration of the other books.

Lyons Gift
Most of the men narrators have a devil of a time getting the women’s voices right. They usually sound like whinny old biddies. My only suggestion would be get a female to help. I really like the collaborations. They sound so much better.

So disappointing.
This was a good story. I enjoyed the basic plot, the characters, the comedy, and the romance. Yet everything felt incomplete or thrown together. The main story ended with no real resolution. There should have been another chapter, or at the very least an epilogue.
The secondary love story between Allison and the oldest brother seemed to be just thrown in there wherever it could be, just so the bestie could have a happy ending too. But there was no back story, real explanation, or fluidity.
Finally, please do not utilize Ewan MacRae when there are female voices. He already sounds like Joe Mantegna in all other voices, but his females are horrid. I doubt I will ever listen to another book narrated by him.
This was so disappointing.

Don't waste your money
This was a terrible book. I figured I'd get this one since I liked the first one. I was very disappointed in this one. The story felt rushed. There wasn't any development. I felt NOTHING for the characters. The narration was awful as well. The accents were all over the place. I'll be returning this and taking the rest of the series out of my Wishlist.

Lyon's Gift
Fascinating romance with very witty dialogue between the main characters. If you enjoy strong willed female characters who don't always fit their expected societal roles, you should this one that will have you laughing out loud. Definitely a 5 star romance by Tanya Anne Crosby! This was the first time I remember having heard a narration by Ewan MacRae. He has a very sexy deep voice was perfect for the strong male lead. However, since I am not accustomed to listening to his work, the female voices were not as appealing to me as the male renditions. It is however, extremely difficult to stretch ones voice from super masculine to willful female. I would say his is a 4 Star performance, but I think if I hear him more often, I'll become more accustomed to his sounds.

Enjoyable and refreshingly unique
Many reviews of the story and the narrator were negative. Truthfully, I loved the narrator’s voice. The Ewan MacRae’s voice was clear, easy to understand even with Scottish accent, varying the voices for different characters and overall a great performance! I saw that he is a narrator for the others books in this series and looking forward to the next books. Story was amusing and creative. My only criticism is the quick closure at the ending. I think a more elaboration of their final discovery of their feelings would have made the book 5 star plus.

Great book!
I loved the story, but felt that it ended way too quickly. I wish there was an epilogue telling readers what happened next.
