Story
Hailey Freeman goes to Blackwood with a specific mission - at least on the surface. When a sudden tragedy thrusts her into chaos, she expects to find herself mired in confusion, bereft, while she figures out how to pick up the pieces. Instead, she finds comfort, clarity, and - baffling - familiarity in the arms of Ellis Boyd. A stranger. A stranger who can’t help wondering if he knows Hailey somehow, met her somewhere, another time that they just can’t remember—the only explanation for their swift, consuming connection. At least, the only one that makes sense.

Sometimes, the worst lies are the ones we tell ourselves. They build and build into a façade of transparency and false truth that we present to the world...until it comes crashing down because of that one person who sees right into you. “Just one more time.” “It’s not even like that.” “I’m not tripping about it.” “I’m fine. Really.”

Keris Bradford is a woman on the brink. Of what? She doesn’t quite know. Her life is shifting, rapidly, and the sudden, captivating intrusion of Laken Kimble isn’t exactly...reassuring. For Keris, Laken is comfort and risk wrapped in one very appealing package. For Laken, Keris is barrier and providence all at once. For both, there arises a need to navigate those contrasts to a conclusion neither was looking for...a need to answer a simple question. If you want this...what are you willing to offer in exchange?

Asha's life is no fairytale, by any stretch of the imagination. There was no kind, generous father to care for and protect her from the Vegas that exists beyond the glitz and glamour of The Strip. No wise, doting mother to look over and guide her, passing down essential lessons and leading her to the right path. And certainly, no Prince Charming just around the corner, ready to rescue her from working late nights to cover steadily mounting bills.

For months I stood by, an understudy waiting in the wings, preparing for my time to shine. I never imagined he would watch in the audience that night. Canon Holt. Famous film director. Fascinating. Talented. Fine. Before I could catch my breath, everything changed. I went from backstage Broadway to centerstage Hollywood. From being unknown to my name, Neevah Saint, on everyone’s lips. Canon casts me in a star-studded Harlem Renaissance biopic, catapulting me into another stratosphere. But stars shine brightest in the dead of night.

Summary
Love that says something, instead of just looking like it.
Love you can always trust to feel like home.
For both of them, it’s something that has always been just outside of their peripheral, something to be observed rather than experienced. A depth of feeling reserved for people who were “into” that, those with a different outlook, those more...deserving.
Until their paths cross.
Lines are crossed.
And maybe the stars are crossed too, because the connection and chemistry are so off the charts that they can’t stay away from each other, can’t avoid it...even if they think they should.

It Feels Good To Be Back In Mahogany Heights!!!
Love Notes was absolute perfection. From the characters, the setting, and the food to the romance between Jules and Troy, this book was a whole vibe. Jules and Troy were the perfect couple to introduce this series. The chemistry and passion between them was absolutely amazing. There was a little bit of a slow burn between them as they tried to fight this pull they had because, their attraction to each other was so strong, they didn’t put up too much of a fight. Jules comes off as seemingly confident and full of life but, she's dealing with some demons from her past. Troy is like the little boy lost because, he grew up in the foster care system and he longs to know his biological family. These two embark on a journey to heal and grow from their complicated pasts. Along the way, Jules and Troy build a bond that allows them to organically fall in love. CCJ is known for taking her characters through it so, I was pleasantly surprised there was little to no drama in this book. Aunt Darcy and Uncle Will were perfection. They stole the whole damn book. I love that CCJ takes us back to Mahogany Heights and we get to revisit with some of our favorite people and places (Urban Grind, Honeybee, Pot Liquor, Posh Petals, and Fresh Cutz). Love Notes was a beautiful love story. It was relatable, romantic, sexy, funny, and full of young black fabulousness. I love the idea of a black community where our culture thrives and black businesses are successful. If you have not read this book, read it. I promise you will not be disappointed.

I loved this!!
So let's get into it... I love love love every story that I have read from this author. This one was no different! So about the Narrator. Wesleigh Siobhan has always been my fave female narrator, with that being said, I have very sensitive ears and the whole time it sounded like she had gum in her mouth... why oh why baby Jesus!! I couldn't stop listening because of obvious reasons but the extra sound was so irritating. I just had to say it... other than that small thing I loved the book, the narrators.. Emmanuel Ingram another fave so I was a very happy camper... Great Listen!!

The Heights
I visualized the Heights while listening to this audible, it really drew me in. Especially black owned businesses, friendships, family and community. Therapy is very therapeutic and healing ❤️🩹, glad she sought it out, like prior to coming back home. Troy gained a brother/ family his twin brother. I wished we could’ve got the back story. All and all I loved this story. I want to move to the Heights. I love how Mrs. Jones always interact her characters from past and present books. Narrators were great. I truly loved this one 💐💐

Love, redefined
I enjoyed this book. It was a different take on an traditional love story. It is great for people that enjoy reading a romance novel that has more depth that sex. I enjoyed learning about the layers and connectivity of the characters, and think a continuation is definitely suitable.
